What do you think the strength of the New Savage/Stevens small falling block, model 30 is? This is the copy of the old Favourite.....could it be converted to c.f. and rechambered to Hornet or Bee or barring that, 25/20 or even BP only 25/20? one could even make their own new block out of solid steel. This would be a cast bullet only project.

No, no and no. If you wanted to convert it I would say stick with the pressure level of the original design- 22 LR- 22 Mag, 32 S+W and mild loaded 32 Long. I think it's ok for the 17 HMR and 17M2. The Hornet, Bee and 25-20 would be really pushing things.

Bret's right; even the larger Model 44 series Stevens, from which the "Favorite" was scaled down, are considered too weak for cartridges in the Hornet class and upwards.
