UPS is the way to go. Don't go to one of those "pack and ship UPS store" outlets instead go to the actual UPS shipping location the one with a dozen big brown trucks outside, the main hub in your location. Do not tape the top of the box shut and bring your tape to finish your packing on location.

There is no extra charge for shipping small arms ammunition (pack and ship stores may try to charge you extra and they don't know what they are doing and the real UPS rules) but they will want to look in the box and confirm it really is just small arms ammunition and not sweaty old sticks of dynamite or something crazy like that. They will have the special warning stickers to put on the box at the real UPS hub as well. Heck I wouldn't mind a roll of those stickers to put on all of my packages I ship through UPS to keep the grunts from playing football with my package as the ball.

My local "UPS Store" took mine with no problem at all. I say that to say check your local UPS store prior to assuming they either will not ship your ammo or they rape you in exchange for the service.

Yah, he might have better luck then I did with the store outlet shops, but my results were bad enough that I would not advise someone to even bother going to them and instead choose to advise them to just go straight to the main hub.

Do you ship primed brass the same way as loaded ammo or can it be shipped by USPS?

i would assume a no go on primed brass as its the same as primers.

primed brass is the same as ammunition as far as shipping is concerned.

UPS is the way to go for shipping loaded ammo. It's usually pretty cheap too.

a solid box within the box, i like to use the usps tyvek envelope, inside out to make sure that even if all the boxes are ruptured no ammo is lost.

i was planning to vacuum seal the ammo before packing as well. would this work?

You can.. I vaccum seal 500rd baggies of ammo and then place those baggies in the safe and when my ammo can gets low I just pop a baggie open and pour them in my ammo can.

as long as the bags are tough. ups will usually refuse to ship the ammo if it is just rolling around loose in a box or bag.
