Be careful that those cement blocks don't "pop" and collapse with moisture and the heat of exrended casting sesssions.

Thanks for the heads up Tom. They will stay dry where they are. Will keep checking them. The beer was on the bench not too far away Buckshot. This is our smelter. I cast with a smaller pot on my bench. Amazing how much you can enjoy melting lead with a couple friends standing around.:castmine:

A dandy stand can be had for next to nothing by getting your hands on a large truck rim. Setups like this will usually drop right in the center hole without too much fiddling.

Car and truck rims make handy stands for many of our casting endeavors.

Or if you must use block get some cider block that can withstand the heat. That concrete will dry out and crumble.

Thanks guys, I'm gonna look around in my junk pile, I think I have an old rim around here and if not I know I can pick up some angle cheap and build something.. The cement blocks were a quick fix but not very mobile at all. I think a stand with a good set of casters on it is in order. :drinks:

This just about has to be the coolest forum on the web. An elevated rim would be great. And what Rick said about my newest aquisition-just awesome. Will post pics in a day or so.:castmine:
