I'd like to add a bipod to my Savage 93R17 BTVS but not sure what brand, Harris, Caldwell or Versa Pod.
How high to get most shooting off a rest,

I like the Harris 6"-9" Bench-rest model that swivels.

I only have experience with Harris, they worked well for me. Now one of my sons has one and he likes it.

I have a couple from Harris. Would buy another.

I like the Harris 25. I've used it over 30 years and the height adjusts from prone through sitting on level or uneven ground.

Give the short Versa-Pod a hard look. I have two Versa Pods, two Harris, and a Parker Hale. The Versa Pods get the most use, especially the one with rubber "crutch tip" feet. The Parker Hale is all steel and is quite robust. The Versa Pod is aluminum but holds up well in field use with just about any caliber.. The Harris is light duty aluminum, flimsy, and springy under recoil even with 223 Rem .
Just my 2 cents.
