James Brown has left the "stage

Caught this on the AM news feed, James Brown, the godfather of Soul, has died at age 73.

that he had cancelled his appearance for this weekend, but planned to make the appearances he had scheduled for New Years.

Five minutes later they were posting story of his death.

He did put on a show!

I'm near 71 and I don't feel good...then maybe I'm not taking the same kind of drugs he did.

Plus, you got to be a soul freak to like that kind of music. Though the movie Blues Brothers was pretty good. Couldn't stop tapping my foot in that one. :mrgreen:

I was a little shocked when they announced his death, as he shaped so much of music in my time, you kinda took it (his music) for granted.

My group back in the 70's was managed by his long time unofficial wife Vonnie Sweeney, who also recently passed away. I was fortunate to work with Trombonist- Fred Wesley- Brown's music director and leader of his "Horny Horns" brass section, and got to meet many of those guys in his legendary band (even met Al Sharpton back then if you can believe that :mrgreen:). Never got to meet the godfather himself though.. :(
