Nothing today but last weekend shot up 100-150 rounds from 22LR to 243 - working my back up to larger calibers to see if my neck can take it after my fender bender.

I shoot little but if I take 5 shots down I expect 1" or less at 50 yards and beer cans at 100.
Shooting thousands of rounds will not make a better shooter. One shot in the center or five touching and sub 1" at 100 is more important to me. I am a hunter and one shot is it, nothing more and I could care less about steel poppers at 15 yards.
Yet if I had a 1911 and a BG was out front, he would have a mighty small group with a magazine of loads through him.
So, you are having fun, popping caps---GREAT. I wish I could afford it so I need to make every shot count.

I would shoot a heck of a lot more than I do, but powder and primers still cost and I have to figure that into my days outing. Only shoot rifle and mostly Red Dot loads ( 11.5gn - 7x57 and 20gn - 404) and even though I got the Russian Muron LR primers ( I believe they are the Wolf and similar brands as well) NZ$63 for 2 K as someone was getting out of rifle competition they are still going to run out and need to be replaced (NZ$63 is about US$50 or $25 per 1000) Usually LR primers are NZ$70-90 = US$50-70)
Fixed income now so 30-50 rounds a week is about it for me, but like 44man I shoot for hunting practice.

I cast some of those 325 grain boolits out of that mold that I got from you yesterday loaded some in new 45-70 Hornaday cases and shot them out of a trapdoor Springfield rifle.
Needless to say it was a HOOT.I loaded them up with 16 grains Trail Boss and it sounded like a 22 going off.
I am sure glad this rifle belongs to someone else because I could sure shoot a lot of them.
Thanks for the Good deal on the mold.

if shooting practice doesn't make you better at shooting
what pray tell does ?
I was certain that practice was important

Today, I shot ~130 rd of my 124gr jacketed 9mm loads at the "local" USPSA match (200 mile round-trip). The gas costs more than everything else.

During the warm month, my normal shooting is 300-400 rounds of 9mm and 100-200 rounds of .223 for USPSA and NRA Hi Power, and it takes me 600+ miles of driving.

Primary activity should go to the recognition of environmental factors. Secondly, mental practice for dexterity control. Third, muscle control for recoil purposes. ... felix

I shot my Lyman Great Plains rifle (.50cal.) ~25 times today in preparation for a Blanket Shoot/Woods Walk tomorrow. While the rifle is accurate and the triggers good, I'm having trouble finding the right sight picture when shooting offhand. OTOH, it will put 5 patched RB's touching @ 50 yd. with either FFFg or FFg. Today's shooting was @ 25 yd. with pure Pb RB's (.490") cast from a Thompson/Center .50cal. mold and patched with .018" pillow tick, and lubed with 103 Lube.

I shot the Bull with several others today. Busy caring for disabled grandson, and that's more important.
T Ball and bowling take precedence over gun fun.

My son and I got to shoot a little today. 100 or so 45 acp's for me (PT1911) and 100 40 s+w for him (Glock 22).

We tried out my new AR and and burnt up a box of 20. (to muddy for the 100 yrd range or we would have let loose a little)

We also got to shoot my friends Saiga 12. 25-30 buckshot loads and a box or two of 3" slugs. My son is only twelve and three inchers knocked him around a little.

I went to the DNR land on 9 mile road to help my brother in law's mother in law decide what gun to buy. We shot a Taurus snub nose .357, a S&W .357 with a 3" barrel (.38's and .357's in both) My ruger P345, my brother in law's P90 and his sister in law's new boy friend's Taurus 9mm. Then we shot a bunch of clay's with 12 Ga. shotguns I personnally shot 75 shells in the 12 Gauge and we went through a case and a half of clays all told and did a walk through to pick up those that survived to shoot them again.

Saturday was 70+ rounds out of three 44 VAQUEROS...I'm liking 7.5 of HERCO with a 265 grain NOE RN-FP. Later I did 60 rounds in 357 VAQUEROS....158 grain RN-FP with 5.0 of TITEGROUP.

It's windy and cloudy...tornado warning west of here now...but I used the HERCO load in 7.5 inch VAQUEROS today...neither of them has had a trigger job yet; so not as good as yesterday.

This week I have to get busy and load up all the 50/90 empties for the SHILOH SHARPS...I head for Montana and the Quigley shoot in three weeks!

That took exactly three shots into my test tube. I do this about once every few months .... I'm not doing very well am I?:-?

Long range plinking with the .22 rifle. It's sighted to shoot to the crosshairs at 50 yds. with T22 ammo, and by coincidence the point of impact at a bit over 110 yds is at the top of the vertical duplex crosshair taper. Good enough for plinking pieces of clay targets on the berm, but for calm days only.

What did I shoot? Plenty!

We had planned to shoot and made the mistake of stopping by a gun show earlier in the day. Wife fell in love with a .44 Mag Ruger SBH with a 3 3/4" barrel. I told her I already had dies and a mold in .44 as I used to load them for a friend. It was fun watching her shoot something with oomph for the first time.

Neighbor had his eye on a 4 5/8" Vaquero in .45 Colt and a 7 1/2" 3 screw SBH. He bought the Vaquero as he already owns a Taurus Judge and had .45 Colt ammo. Previous owner had only shot Black Powder blanks for Cowboy Competition and claimed to have never fired real ammo through it. It had a trigger and hammer job done and was considerably lighter than my 4 5/8" Vaquero in 38-40 / .40S&W.

Finally got to shoot my neighbor's .500 S&W with 300 and 440 grain loads. I'm still grinning. Finally got to shoot the Camp Carbine after replacing the recoil buffer and mainspring. It doesn't sling brass into the next county any more. Finally got to shoot two new ones, a Taurus PT709 Slim (9MM, mine) and a Taurus PT740 (40S&W, wife's) The 9MM shoots low/left as have many others and will be going back to the factory. The 40S&W shot to point of aim and was a handful. Wife didn't like it.

A younger friend of ours came along with his Ruger SR9 9mm, a dandy shooter. We brought plenty of 9MM, he brought a couple boxes. I told him to put away his store bought ammo and just shoot my reloads. There's nothing like the big smiles of a grateful participant.

We picked up more brass than we put down which is always a plus. Of all the guns fired I really enjoyed shooting the .500 S&W, the wife's new SBH, the neighbor's new Vaquero, and my Vaquero. All in all, a great afternoon. Frank

Yesterday, not today. Wife wants to shoot more .45 ACP so we went to our gun club and took my KP-90 and Glock 30SF. Two rounds of magazines for each so that cals to about 170.

She also took her Glock 26 with now smooth-faced trigger to try it out. One round of magazines is 91 or so. All odd numbers since I load magazines to no more than one less than full capacity.

About 260 rounds total seems about right for the two of us. But, brought back well over 300 cases so the whole thing was productive.

After that a meal out followed by a pair of $1 hot fudge Sundaes, world's best coffee later on the back porch. It was a good day.
