This group buy is now closed. Moulds will be ready to ship in about two weeks. Everyone on the list will get an invoice (and a beautiful brass mould). Miha will send you the invoice directly, and he will also send you the mould directly.

Miha Prevec is going to make us another run of this classic mould.
Sign up here for a brass, 4-cavity, solid nose Hensley & Gibbs #68 clone. You feed it straight wheelweight. It casts 0.452" or 0.454" boolits (your choice)* with plain or beveled bases (your choice).** The moulds accept Lee 6-cavity handles, and Miha also makes super nice handles for $23 plus $7 shipping.
The estimated timeline is to have these moulds made in August (2011), so don't wait too long. 92 happy buyers got 98 of these excellent moulds last time. We're near 60 mid-July on this re-run. Don't miss the boat.

bart_simpson at hotmail dot com - plain base, ???diameter
Payment is to Miha, by Paypal. It's the simple way to get your dollars over to Europe. When he's made your mould, he'll send you an invoice, you will pay him directly, and he will ship the mould to you directly.

Everyone whose (masked)*** email address still looks like this: ???email, has got a PM from me asking for a PM back or a post. The address on the list is the address where you will receive your paypal invoice.
*The 0.452" mould will actually cast about 0.4525 to 0.453" depending on which wheelweights you use.
**The plain base boolits weigh 200 grains, and the bevel base about 205 grains

Sorry I'm so late....
I'm really busy lately (on my day job + making molds).
HG#68 in solid PB and BB is a go in 4 cavity brass (like previous run).
You can choose .453 or .455 as cast (signs are 452 or 454).
BB is a bit heavier (around 205 grains), FB should give you 200gn.
About the cramer style: It could be done only in FB. If we go only with round HP pins, I see no problems (minimum is 15 molds, but I will make it more). The penta pins are problem here (minimum order is higher).
Mold should give you aprox 185 gn boolits in (you choose) .453 or .455 as cast

Hey hicard. These are Cramer moulds if we get more than 15 requests for them. Please sign up on the Discussion thread (http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?t=116794) if you'd like an H&G #68 Cramer type. If I'm not mistaken, there is an Active Group Buy (http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?t=97566) going for a 45 caliber hollowpoint round nose mould. I see a mention of a re-run in that thread. Also, Miha often makes a few extras, so he may have some more or less in stock.

I have just bought an NOE .452/196gr SWC that is a copy of H&G130 but at 196gr instead of H&G's listed 185gr.
http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?t=111327
Does anyone have any experience with both of the NOE and the H&G 68?
Looking for opinions on the feeding of both. Is it worth getting the 68 when I have the 130?

Ian,
http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?t=37087 has some information on the 130, but your mold and this one seem similar enough to bring pause before getting a second mold. Some bullseye shooters like lighter and heavier boolits at different ranges, but your mold is almost the same weight, and should feed unless there's something quirky with your gun.
That being said, this will be a nice mold, and a classic, so you can't go too wrong!
Good luck,
Sam

It's my understanding that the Lyman 452488 is also a clone of the 130. I have one of these, and it casts boolits that weigh right around 198gr using 50/50 pb/lino. Lyman says the mould should drop a 195gr boolit with #2, and I believe H&G used linotype with the #130's so chances are they are very close. Along with that mould, I also have a 2 cavity Lee clone of the H&G #68, and a SAECO #69 (which is their clone of the 68 with a plain base, rather than bevel base. I'm in on this group buy as well, so I'm going to have a few different clones to choose from!
I must say the Lyman 452488 sure is a different looking boolit, I haven't tried shooting them yet as I have all my 45 brass already loaded, but as soon as I shoot some I will try it and see how it cycles thru my PT1911.

Sorry in general that I haven't been able to work on the thread the past couple of days. I got some "critical disk error" that turned out to be bogus and a Trojan Horse. I should not have fallen for the cartoony looking "Windows Repair" solution that was offered, but you never get too old for stupid.
Fortunately, the fix was eventually (this morning) easy. Restore to a System Restore point a couple of weeks ago (5/14/11 worked for me). I only offer the gory details in case this Horse is going around and it might be helpful.
Henry,
I second the system restore to a previous date fix.
I've had to use it a couple times myself.

There's always something going around.
Any popup on a web site should be considered an attempt to INSTALL a nasty, rather than an offer to fix it.
If you visit one of those web sites, and get that pop up, DO NOT EVEN CLICK ON THE WINDOW CLOSE (X) button! Even that is usually an install command. You have to do Ctl-Alt-Del and open up task manager, and close your browser that way. And, then don't go back to that web site again.

I am # 27 on list. I have requested a .454 flat base mold. I use WW with 20 to 50 % plain lead added for a mixture for my 45ACPs. My question is will this mold drop .454 with a 50-50 mixture or only with a WW mixture? When I use the softer mix in my 45ACP guns than straight WW & find that it drops about .001 smaller than WW mixture from my 6 molds. I have ordered the larger .454 & will size to .452 in star lubsizer. Am I going to be sizing down too much with this mold or should I get a .452 mold. I am after accuracy & find .452 works best in my 45 ACP guns. I have slugged barrels. Any thoughts on the size I have ordered? Will I be sizing then too much or should I order .452 with this mold. Help information is requested. Thanks for any thoughts on subject.

When & how does this group buy transition from gathering names for the order to closing the group buy and actually submitting the order?
I have answers!
When? Miha says it's hard to say, but if everything goes well, some time in August.
How? My understanding is that this is how Miha handles a group buy. He uses the list in the first post, and he makes all the moulds. Then he emails the account that's listed, telling you your mould is ready and can you send funds by PayPal. Then you send Miha the funds directly. Then he ships you your mould directly.
I'm sorry I haven't had much time to post in the last week. I lucked onto a local varmint hunting opportunity and that has been given much of my time over the past few days :grin::grin:. I will get the list caught up today or tomorrow.

The key here is patience, and I'll tell ou it pays dividends.
I have two 45 -270-SAA molds of Miheck.
Compared to my many other VERY GOOD molds from NEI, SAECO (old) , H&G, (OLD), Lyman and Saeco 6 cavity molds (old AND heavy), several RCBS molds (all very nice), and I'm sure several I don't remember, his are the finest and best casting molds I've ever laid hands on, bar none.
More expensive than aluminum for sure, but cheaper than some 2 cavities out there and better queality.
Worth the wait.
I second what 1911 says. I got one of these molds on the last group buy end of 2010. It is sooo good I just HAVE to have another.
Whenever he says they're ready is soon enough for me!

There is a list that someone is maintaining here:
http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?t=114501&page=5
That other list needs to get combined with the official list in this thread, and that other thread/list needs to get closed and locked.
Some people are going to be pissed if they get left out, or orders duplicated.
I went to look at that other thread, and saw the dupe list, and that some people are signing up there, but not here, etc...
We need one list, and I would suggest that this thread has the "OFFICIAL LIST"

Ok, I'm really not sure if I want the bevel base, or the plain base, so I've decided to add a plain base mould to my order as well as the bevel base. This way I can play with both when I get them and either decide which one I really like, and sell the other one (I'm sure I would have no problem selling one of MiHec's beauties!), or just keep and use both!
So that's ADD a .452 plain base to my order along with the bevel base. Also, on the list in the first post, you have me as #10 in the postion for #19, just a typo, but you might want to change it so there's no confusion later. Thanks!

I have a quick question regarding price. I'm on 2 different GB's at the moment. One has the price for a 4 cavity brass mould as $90.00 & $20.00 for shipping, the other has the mould price as $95.00 with a shipping charge of $15.00 While this works out to the same amount, it starts to change when people order more than one mould. On the other GB, where it's 95 per mould, and 15.00 for shipping it also stated that Miha can ship 2 moulds for $25.00 Would the shipping for 2 moulds on this buy be the same $25.00 or ? I'm not trying to be a PITA, just curious. I'm also curious if both moulds are actually the same price, and Miha just split the pricing up differently for some reason?

Mike,
I've got you an answer:
Shipping is weight based.
Up to 1 kg is 15$
up to 2kg is 20$
4 cav. solid mold packet is 0.95 kg
4 cav. hp mold packet is 1.15 kg
1 set of mold handles is 0.4 kg
If there is more than 2 kg then I separate it in more than one package (It is cheaper that way).
I'll try and do the arithmetic and add the itemized schedule of shipping charges to the first post. I ought to have a little while to update the list this evening.
Could I change my bold to bevel base please?
Thanks!

I think the bevel portion is an extension of the cavity, instead of cutting the same cavity but leaving a rim of metal behind. In other words, the mould is probably cut with the cherry (nose down) a little deeper into the mould block. If you had a bevel base cherry, and if you backed it out the depth of the bevel, you'd have a plain base mould, but it would cast a little lighter.
I think the bevel based are easier to load and harder to damage if a box of them gets bounced around.
At pistol shooting distances, I doubt I am good enough to notice an accuracy difference.
Since loads for a lead 200 grain semiwadcutter are probably way short of maximum, an extra 5 or 10 grains isn't probably going to take you anywhere near dangerous pressures. Check the maximum 230 grain loads and jacketed loads with the same powder, and you're probably loading 200 or 205 grain semiwadcutters with a lot less powder and at a lot lower pressure than that. Someone who knows more than me could probably give you more precise answers, but I check stuff like that whenever I have pressure questions.

Someone who knows more than me could probably give you more precise answers, but I check stuff like that whenever I have pressure questions.
I was reading someone's thread here at Cast Boolits the other day, and another consideration occurred to me. If I find it again, I'll post the link so you can read his story.
While bevel based boolits may be more robust and damage resistant than plain base, the opposite is true of bevel base moulds. The part of the mold that forms the bevel is a thin, sharp ridge of metal around the cavity opening (boolit base). That beveling ridge is somewhat more susceptible to denting and chipping than the square corner at the opening of a plain base mould.
FWIW, my own casting experience is measured in dozens of hours at the pot, not thousands.* I haven't damaged a bevel base mould yet, but I have received a brand new aluminum bevel base mould with a damaged beveling rim. That mould was cheerfully accepted for return by the vendor.
Then, of course, you've got to lubricate the boolits. If you pan lube or tumble lube or have a Star sizer, you don't need to worry. If you have a Lyman-type lubricator, the plain base may be less trouble. The Lyman/RCBS sizers can't tell the difference between a lube groove and a base bevel, and they can deliver lube to both places, making a sticky mess for you. There are ways of working around this, and some people have much less trouble than all that.
*(and if you do a search on the word "bevel" (in thread titles), you'll see that the differences between plain and bevel base boolits make for one of the more contentious gatherings of opinions you'll find anywhere in these forums)

I would like to point out two other positives of this mould that I have not seen posted in any of the threads and which I believe are significant in terms of an improvement over the H&G #68, which I also own in a 4-cavity mould.
The Mihec bullet is slightly shorter in the nose and broader at the meplat. I am talking SLIGHTLY, but you can see it. Also, the front driving band of the Mihec bullet is slightly farther forward than on the #68. The benefit to all this is that you can more easily load to an OAL tha allows easy ejection of loaded rounds without hanging up on the front edge of the ejection port while still still seating the bullet so that the obligatory hairline of front driving band remains visible above the case mouth. With the #68, this can be tricky and some guns require opening up of the front edge of the ejection port let a loaded round eject freely. This can be a safety issue as a bullet that catches can allow the ejector to contact the primer and detonate a round in the ejection port. If you have competed in USPSA/IPSC long enough, you have heard of or seen this first hand.
If you love and shoot the #68 DO NOT MISS this group buy!
HDS,
I have moved you over to the Cramer-type list.

Our other group buy for this design in a Cramer-type (http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?t=117271) (hollow point) mould will close and be manufactured separately.

I have instructions to close this buy. Moulds should be ready to ship in 14 days.
Is there still time to order one of these?
Maybe.
What about a "last call" warning?
I inquired, and I am re-inquiring.
Aw, I really wanted one of these. Are you saying I have missed the boat?
I don't know, and I don't really think so. Miha always makes a few extras, and if you were to get on the list PRONTO, I'd say you are probably first in line to get one of these excellent moulds (the extra ones).
Is the group buy for the Cramer-type moulds closing as well?
This one? (http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?t=117271)
No. Not at this time. I supposed that could happen at short notice. Be prepared.

Last Call!
This is it. Get on the list and have it made your way.
Blink, and you might get lucky and pick up an extra (there aren't very many extras). Then again, you might not. The extras can disappear pretty fast.
This is your last chance. Soon, the CLOSED sign will be hung, and this thread will be moved to the Completed Buys board.

I have gone through the list again and checked it against individual posts. I think it is error free. I caught a couple of my own typos, but nobody was destined to receive the wrong mould (a welcome result for an aging mind).
Some statistics, in case you're interested:
63 moulds were ordered.
47 are plain base 0.452
4 are bevel base 0.452
11 are plain base 0.454
1 is bevel base 0.454
26 sets of handles were ordered
One person ordered one mould with two sets of handles.
One person ordered two different base configuration moulds because it was so hard to decide (I almost did that myself).
One person still needs to get me an email address. (But he hasn't posted in a couple of weeks. Hope he's having a good time wherever he is.)

I anticipate that they will disappear fast. If you watch here (and the M-P Molds website www.mp-molds.com) closely, you probably can snag one.
If you are interested, there is a still-open group buy for basically this same mould. Same boolit design, but the mould is a Cramer-type.
http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?t=117271
Rather than read my thousand words of description, why not consult some pictures and this video:
http://www.youtube.com/v/sMXtwOqc1NY?fs=1&hl=en_US
http://www.mp-molds.com/images/cramer_45_render_cr.jpg
Note that when you make hollow points, you tap the pins sticking out the side, and this moves the hollowpointing pins and the new boolit away from the cavity wall (where the lube grooves kept the boolit from dropping), and the boolits fall off the hollowpointing pins (which have no ridges and fairly little surface area to hold onto the boolit). Got that part?
If you turn those hollowpointing pins upside down, the same mould makes the same solid point boolits that the mould in this recently closed group buy makes. Know what I'm sayin?
Great. Now I am going to speculate a little bit (that gets it done faster than asking someone who actually knows, BTW do chime in). If you cast with that Cramer type mould with its hollowpointing pins turned upside down, I think you can skip the step of tapping on the side pins altogether. The pins aren't holding onto the boolit when they're upside down. I think you just use that Cramer-type mould the same as a regular mould, and it's just as fast and casts the same boolits as the regular mould. No extra steps.
And if you get bored or just want a snazzy-looking batch of hollowpoints, turn those pins right side up, and you've got them.

Anywhere from 3-4 days(delivery in Europe) to 1 month. There will be someone in the States that gets theirs before anyone else, then a whole bunch will get theirs and then the rest will start to trickle in. No rhyme or reason(USPS).
I was on one buy when it seemed that everyone had their mold except me. That wasn't the case, but it had me worried. The mold finally showed up. Worth the wait.

The mold looks terrific. Thanks, Miha! This was money very well spent.
Don't know if I'll have a chance to cast with it today, But I'm gonna try. Got to work on a nice target load for the Kimber.
The handles look good, too–simple and sturdy. Good deal!

Just did some quick, half-assed casts to heat the mold and burn off oil. Bullets were falling out perfectly, and right about .453 with a range lead and WW mix. Nice and round. Beautiful mold.

I went out to meet him since he is a gun enthusiast too and we usually have short conversation on the latest acquisition or something related. Among the junk he handed me the familiar white box. I didn't have to sign. I guess giving it to me personally fulfilled the requirement.

Ran a few through a .452 RCBS sizer. Using Lars red,(carnuba red), makes a pretty picture with the silver/red. At least I think so.
Now to change over the dillon 650 from 9mm to 45, then lube some more and load some test loads.

I've cast a couple hundred from each mould, and the boolits look great! I like the bevel base, as it's small enough that there's no problem using a lubesizer, unlike some other boolits that have a much larger bevel, and lube gets in it, and makes a mess! This bevel is large enough to make loading easier, but not so large that lube collects in it in the sizer.

Ok. You asked, so here they are. These pix were shot with my iPhone just now, so they're not the best. You should be able to get a general idea of how the mould works, but if the boolits were cast by somebody that knew what they were doing the actual boolits would probably look much better. The first picture is 4 of the plain based on the left, with 4 of the bevel based on the right, and the second picture is just the 4 bevel based ones.

I finally got around to trying this mold out yesterday evening early as the temp was about 72 here and perfect for raising the garage door for ventilation. I knocked out 200 in short order but of course, four at a time helps. This mold makes some beautiful boolits and I can't wait to try them out.
I did have a problem sizing, however. I dug out my old .452" size die from long ago and discovered it was sizing .4535-.454"-not the .452 that was stamped on the die. I guess I made a mistake ordering the .454" mold due in part I wanted to be sure I wouldn't have undersized boolits like I have in so many other molds...should have gotten the .452". So, it's off to Midway or Graf's to order a .452 size die.
I couldn't get the supplied seating stem to fit my Lyman 450. It just wouldn't go in all the way. I put a mic on the stem and it's right at .265-.267"(at base) and my other stems are .264" You wouldn't think a thousandths or so would make much difference but it does. It wouldn't seat all the way in the press but, I've probably got my old one around and will use that one. No big thing.

Your mould quality is truly amazing! I thought I was going to have to wait til next month to have the money to pay for these 2 moulds, but luckily I was able to sell a couple of puppies (one of my girls had 7 puppies, now I'm down to only 2 left to sell), so was able to pay for them quicker than I thought. I'm still amazed by how smooth the finish to the cavities is, making boolits that really shine! I can't wait to get the last GB boolit, the 200gr HP! I think with that boolit I will change my policy of using factory ammo for self defense carry, and load the HP's cast from Lyman #2 in my concealed carry gun (a Jericho 941 chambered in 45ACP with a polygonal rifled barrel AKA a Baby Eagle). I figure the HP's will probably shoot about the same as the boolits cast as a solid, so I can do lots of practice with those, then shoot one or two magazines full of the HP's just to make sure they shoot & feed well, then keep it loaded with the HP's for carrying. Shooting the HP cast from Lyman #2, out of a 4" barrel, which would be the better pin to use for self defense, the round one, or the pentapins? Thanks again for making this possible!
