I placed an order with Dixie Gunworks for some caps (I need Remington#11)
They sent me a note with my order "They don't ship caps anymore"
Now I am stuck for percussion caps.
And Dixie has $40.00 of my money!
I wish I knew a place to get them retail.
Sportsman's Warehouse, Bass Pro and Cabellas have them but I am looking at a hasmat fee.
Dixie had just sent them to me last year.
Any Ideas

They may be on the shelves seasonally during hunting season. If they're not there they may be back in the stockroom.

The Walmart here only sells Winchester Magnums and only in the fall hunting seasons.Check with Midsouth Shooters.

Check out:

www.powdervalleyinc.com

look under primers, then under remington.

Hope that helps

Yes, sadly, one must pay a hazmat shipping fee to have caps shipped.

They dont go bad in household storage.Buy plenty for the long run.

Or as I have posted for a few years now, check wally's after the the end of the gift season. Quite frequently the put them on sale, sometimes at a real discount. BvT

You could buy a Tap-A-Cap from Dixie and make your own.

I bought a tap a cap and they make nice caps but I can't find and cap pistol caps to put in the things so that is a problem.

I googled "caps for toy guns". THIS (http://www.moretoyguns.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Session_ID=5cb07ab1ce986505d511346690 eb880f&Screen=PROD&Store_Code=4T&Product_Code=7002TOOTSIE&Category_Code=cap110) was on the first site listed.

Locally caps go for $10/K. I ordered from Midsouth and got them for half of that including hazmat. Also, Grafs has had free or reduced hazmat on certain items.

Find some of the indoor and outdoor rendevous and trade faires for the muzzleloader community. Those events are loaded with vendors, and often you'll find percussion caps there for the shooters and visitors.
For a list of events, news papers like 'Smoke and Fire news' has listings for events in every state all around the country. You can also check out the vendors and sutlers in the BP magazines like Muzzleloader or Muzzle Blasts (NMLRA publication).
Lastly, google BP sutlers in your state. You might be able to find them locally without the need for shipping.

Yes JeffinNZ I should buy a flintlock.

I looked @ midsouth, grafs and powder valley, they are good sellers If I can avoid HasMat I would like that.

Good Idea ... also about Googling Sutlers in my area. "SUTLER" as a key word yields results.
I found a store that I can drive up to, right near where I go shoot every week. I didn't even know it was there.

I'm trying for Remington #11 percussion caps, they fit best on one type gun I have.

As for Dixie ...I'm having a shopping spree with the money I sent them for caps.
For instance look @ this bargain!
http://www.dixiegunworks.com/product_info.php?cPath=22_102_501&products_id=2537
$1.95 I should get two.

Man, this makes me think I should be buying more caps now.
Yea, they'll be trying to put a hazmat charge on flint next, and ban it later- because it can spark, and could start a fire in shipping................. :veryconfu

our Socialist government at work. Gun shows usually have them, buy a couple thousand, they don't go bad. never know what will happen next, but it usually does.

I seen them at Walmart and other sporting goods stores that have toy guns. Try to buy good ones as they load and make better ones.

where are you in NYS? Tim's Guns in Elbridge on Rt 5 (CNY by Syracuse) had remington 11s last time I was in there.

Dixie Gunworks is fine.... They offered to send me a refund but I just wanted to buy some shooing supplies instead.

I realized that I have used up 100 balls/wads all ready.

Locally caps go for $10/K. I ordered from Midsouth and got them for half of that including hazmat.

Ten dollars per thousand? Really? Cabella's wants 50 dollars/K for Remingtons. and more for CCI. You got them for half, or $5.00/K? Including hazmat?

Or did you mean $10/C?
