hi cast shooters,
cast some lee tl 41 mag bullets. cast at around 210 gns, but dia. 412-412.5, did not size them, but did crimp. shooting a contender barrel. loaded rounds are 435 at the mouth, and only go 1/2 way into barrel. my thoughts are the cb's will have to be sized? thanks for any input.....dancast

Did you over expand the case mouth & leave a bulge in the case immediately below the crimp? This is a very common cause of chambering issues.

My 41 Mag, 10" bull barrel Contender has a tighter chamber than my Ruger Black Hawk or my S&W 57-1. I size everything to .411 and it works well in all the brass I have tried. Have never used Starline, it may be thicker.

my 41 mag TC barrel has a really tight chamber, you may have to size them a tad after you lube them.

"Tight Chambers" were at one time fairly common in TC barrels. I once owned a .357 Mag. barrel that wouldn't chamber nickled W-W cases loaded with 170 gr. Sierra TMJs unless the cases had been reamed before resizing. A couple years later, I acquired a .41 Mag barrel similar to Guesser's...would not fully chamber the same CB loads (NEI TCGC sized .411) I shot in an 8" DW for IHMSA matches. You might conside running those TLs through a .411 sizer after they're lubed.

with my .41 TC --cases had to be sized all the way to the rim- no bullet bulge-- no belling left at all as some put little or no crimp on the hulls-- but it does sound like you need to size thebullets-- or go to softer alloy which will cast some what smaller - and wd if needed

hi cast bullet fans,
thank you for the replys. the tc barrel is an older one with a fixed sight in place. and yes there is a slight bluge behind the the crimp. right now i use straight ww with just a little tin. will try sizing the bullets, will let ya know how we do.
thanks.........dancast

I'm in the process of using the same boolits in a Marlin 1894FG.My initial tests show the same, dropped from straight A/C WW alloy, 412-412.5 dia, 215 gr. avg. I can used as cast, but have .410 sizer JIC.Using Unique powder, CCI 300 primers. When the rain quits I'm going to try out my second batch of test loads. Gearing up for silhouette plinking.Watching this thread with interest.
