My home town is in the Pepsi Refresh Challenge to save and restore the 170 year old Rail station and I would love you're votes in the challenge.

Thank You.

We had a pretty neat old rail station here when I was a kid, still some limited passenger train traffic and lots of freight going in or out from businesses in town.
All that is parking lots now, plus a Mall where the old fair gounds once were.
Civil War era mansions once lined the main street, those were torn down about the same time.
My Junior High's main building dated to the 1860's as well, huge red bricks and the building was like an old manor house with a huge covered front porch they could hold classes on when it was too hot to stay inside.
No attempts were made to preserve these old buildings, but it was mainly due to the way wooden framing rots in this environment. More recent buildings have succumbed to internal rot as well. long before the structural strength becomes compromised deadly molds and fungus build up inside the walls making it unhealthy to be there for any length of time.
The county courthouse is still in great shape, a really fine building. I think its metal roof probably protected it well, along with no overhanging trees and plenty of sunlight, plus never being unoccupied for any length of time so it was always heated during wet weather and stayed dry inside the walls.
