I contacted " Buckshot " recently about hollow pointing a couple of molds for me.
I sent him a Lyman 31141 and a SAECO, 38/357 , double cavity 158 gr. BB, SWC.

I requested that he hollow point both molds and remove the BB from both cavities of the SAECO .38 mold.

They arrived yesterday. Took him about 12 -14 days. Workmanship is 101%. VERY IMPRESSIVE. There is little doubt that I've got my money's worth on this one. Rick obviously takes quite a bit of pride in his workmanship and quality control. By the way, the front driving bands on the SAECO 38 / 357 measure .359, the rear band ( w/ the BB removed now ) now measures .360. I'm very happy with the molds.

I've made a list of my moulds and have noted which SC moulds to have worked on.
Now you show me a DC which has been HPed.
Argggggh.
Hell, my original list had seven candidates!
If I can include DCs, who knows where it will end!
Seriously, you only reiterate what others have proclaimed.
Truly work by an artisan.

Nice work (and nice pictures, too). I think you're going to like those bullets. I'd suggest keeping the 31141 HP down around 1600-1800 fps for anything that you want to eat. At 2000-2100 fps it's a real varmint bomb! That Saeco HP looks like a real peach!

PatMarlin -- I had the exact same thought...

Thanks for posting the photos! I'm saving my money to have a couple of moulds done. I'd heard lots of good things, but I must say that I am truly impressed with the quality of the work.

I'm thinking of:

Lyman 429421 (single cavity that's never been used before)

Either the Lyman 429650 or the RCBS 44-300-SWC (big thumpers)

Lyman 429244 - I've got a couple of two cavity moulds but was looking at acquiring a single cavity for this modification.

I've got a Lyman 429640 ( 44 Magnum Devastator) and absolutely love it.

(This is way too much fun. . . )

Glen :

I'm glad you placed a ceiling of about 1,800 on the 31141 HP , that parallels my thinking also.

I figure at speeds in excess of 2,000 , it is a flying bomb.

I just weighed the two bullets :

The Lyman 31141 HP weighs 168 grs.

The SAECO 38 / 357 weighs 148 grs.

Thanks,

Ben
