I have a chance to buy some sheet lead from a x ray room. What is this worth if I were to sell some?? Is it worth more than the standard 1.00$ per pund that folks get for WW lead shipped?? Also, I assume this IS supposed to be soft lead?
Thanks

We often hear from a shooter who has only pure lead to work with, and wishes he had some antimony. He will usually get suggestions that he find some muzzloaders and trade pound for pound, pure for wheel weights. That pretty well indicates they have about the same value.

If it is straight from a demo site it may have other stuff glued to it; sheetrock, etc.

My own view is that it is worth noticeably more than WWs because it is made to a standard, can be considered pure lead for our bullet casting purposes, can be more definitively alloyed, and lastly, is easier to turn from scrap to usable ingots without near the hassle of converting a bucket of WW from Joe's Tire Shop which will contain an amazing and unbelievable variety of of noxious, disagreeable and unknown ingredients and just junk.

Further, the burning off of the glue and wallboard papers is not nearly as difficult or time consuming as sorting a bucket of WW and the ultimate loss loss of usable weight.

If we could meet up twenty miles down the road , I'd gladly give you 1.5 WW to 1 sheet lead scrap of this nature.

Do not be fooled till you turn hundreds of pounds of each into usable hobby ingots!

Scrap sheet lead from manufacture of xray shielding sells for $1.00 per pound around Dallas - when you can find it. It goes pretty quick.
