I have a 4" s&W 625-3 and a Springfield Loaded 1911.

I want to shoot both for accurate plinking and for bowling pin.

I'm thinking I will need a 200gr SWC for light recoil plinking and 230gr for BP when the pins get heavy.

I WON'T be starting with a 1 or 2 cav mold.

I WILL tumble lube.

I like that the Lee molds offer 6 cavities. Can you recommend a mold and weight for these two guns and these two applications?

I think I will have to buy two molds and that's fine. Thank you.

I like the Lee tumble lube 230 rn myself. 5.0 of HP 38 makes a good plinking load and a full load of Bullseye or unique will step it up a bunch. I am casting up a thou of these for the summer today.

The issue w/ 200grLSWC in the rev is the reload. A RN or TC will reload easier w/ moonclips. One bullet for everything, I use the Magma 200grTC. The Lee 200grRNFP will aslo work well & does a great job on pins w/ the wide FP.

Thanks for the advice. The SWC was for the nice holes in paper.

I have had good luck with the Lee 230 gr TC. With full moon clips they seem to magically get sucked into the cylinder on my 625...

Nothing cuts holes in paper like the Lyman 452460. It is my bullet of choice for a 1911 or my Ruger Bisley 45 Colt & 45 acp convertible. Accurate, light recoil and large clean cut holes.

Rats! I just saw the part about tumble lube. Disregard my last for your application.

You can tumble lube any bullet. I am just not sure that one will feed in the XD, it's very finicky w/ any bullet that has a shoulder like the H&G68 SWC. ANy RN or TC or RNFP will run fine though.

I would use the 200grain fnfp for plinking and fun and the 255 rnfp for pins. I'm not sure about the 200 rnfp but the 255 ran just fine in my 1911 and if you were to go with the lee tc it usually drops at or around 240 from what most of those that have it have said. what ever you choose stick with conventional lube grooves they will work just fine with lla

I use 200 gr LHP for 1911 and for 625 I use 255 RNFP. But use auto rim brass for the 625, that way I don't have to use moon clips.
