I have a spare .429 450 sizer die. I need a .432. Is .003 too much to lap. Any trades available? A Lee .432 is good if they make a .432.

Thanks

I opened a Lyman .431" to .433". Go slow, and clean and test size often.

You may want to PM Buckshot...quality workmanship and fair pricing.

It'll work, I've gone .003 over just don't leave the lube pressure on very long as the lube will squeeze up between the guide rod and the inside of the die.

I lapped 3.5 thou out of a .313 to make a .3165 for my Pygmy. Had another birthday during the process. Those dies are real hard and for good reason. Can be done but it is not a 5 minute job.

HI,
YES , can be done , will take a bit of doing though. Measure a lot, pin/hole gauges.

I got serious and lapped the die today. 432 perfect. There were times that production slowed down but I relaized the abrasive material was wearing smooth. Replaced the paper and off it went.

Good deal.

The number of tricks and skills that we learn, just to shoot boolits, is really amazing.

I've lapped several.

I took a .427" H die to .4315", but it leaks like a sieve unless pressure is released before ejecting each boolit. .002-3", no problem, but there is a point of diminishing returns.

Yep, as you've shown, .003" ain't too much. BTW, I got a Lee .432" sizing die from Ranchdog (I've got a Puma with a groove dia. of. 431" to .432").
