G'day fellas,

Here's a look at the results of my first smelting session, finished up with 34lb wheel weight & 24lb lead. Beer can moulds worked a treat except the ingots look a bit rough.

Comments please.....

from the looks of it, it almost looks like you put the lead/WW mix in to wet cans, did you wash and DRY them first?

Washed & dried cans days earlier.

Fluxed with beeswax... no flame and didn't set alight... ?

Mad, those ingots look a bit off; any chance ou had a run-in with the dreaded zinc monster?

Hard to tell by the pics but the sides of the ingots look smooth? And the tops, are they even in texture and color?.........Creeker

Looks to me like you might have poured em a tad on the cool side...try pouring while metal is hotter..

Yeah, if the beeswax didn't burst into flames, it's obvious that the temperature was too low.

Hot or cold, it don't matter what ingots look like. Just don't cast bullets that look like the ingots!
