My 454 super redhawk, using 300 GC Lee bullet and H110, decided to refuse to lock up the cylinder. The plunger/bolt/call it what you want is has a spring loaded pin that bears against the bolt causing it to ride up through the frame and catch in the notch in the cylinder. Could not get that pin to come out of its recess not matter. Kroil didn't help. (Was later told a vibrating pencil is what the pros would have used to coax it out.) Long story short, it went back to Ruger. Sent through a FFL which kept the cost down. Then my buddy's same gun decided to have excessive end shake and a head space problem. It took the same route. So . . . coincidence, sunspots, bad luck. Serial numbers were not in a range, but don't know how Ruger assigns numbers. Brass, powder, 7 and half primers, and boolits are now waiting for homes.
