I just picked up a beauty of a Hensley & Gibbs #319 4 cavity mould. This mould produces a plain based 200 gr SWC 38/357 bullet with a nice big lube groove.
Anyone load something like this with 231 for light loads and 296 for heavy loads?
Any experiences with these or other powders with this or similar bullets will be appreciated.

I had a 10 hole H&G that dropped 141 Gr FBWC, and had it modified aiming for a 200 Gr FN, we used a by gosh and a by golly estimate to run down the nose reamer and when all was done, I ended up with a boolit when cast with straight Pb they dropped at 195Gr, alloyed their 190Gr. In the Lyman 45Th edition they list a 195 Gr boolit, I would give you all the data they listed for that particular boolit but the Manual is over at my Sons place, if you cant get it anywhere let me know and I'll get it to you, but to make a long story short the load I use is 10Gr 2400, it's the mid range load for 2400 in the manual, accuracy is great, I use them in both my Puma and security six, 357, in the revolver theirs some tendency to barrel flip, I guess the weight of the boolit causes this, It's not extreme and alot of fun to shoot, just remember I'm using a boolit thats 10Gr's lighter that yours and I would adjust the powder accordingly ..........steg

I would like to take that mold off your hands. It will shoot long range like it has eyes, is heavy enough to even out WC 820. I only have two cavity and am envious. It is the best 357 bullet made for long cylindered guns. I shoot em from a 5 inch Blackhawk at 1233 fps with a very low SD and great accuracy.

I can't find any reloading data for it......but I am a long way from that. This is kind of an unusual bullet. I think it will be great in the Rossi 92 and I have a S&W 28 to try it in. I have been using the H&G 51 with great success but I couldn't pass this one up. I have never seen one of them before and it is in great shape.
I am not much of an experiminter. I can work up a load but with no reloading data I just don't know where to start on this one. I use 231 and 296 almost exclusively in my pistol loads - 231 is great for the subguns and 296 is a great magnum powder.
What do you use for loads?
Thanks,
Donald

The H&G #319 was advertised for the .357 Rem. Maximum in my 1988 H&G flyer.

This bullet CAN be used in long cylinder 357 guns and lever rifles. If nothing else it will be my bullet for the Rossi 92.
