Take your Chore Boy pads apart like this and cut off just what you need to put around your brass brush, works geat.

I just pull one long thread of brass out and wrap it multiple times around a patched jag.

I have about 30 pads of this stuff now so I may experiment a little. I patch tight and many times a cloth patch removes most of the lead even before I use the O Cedar scrubber.........Mike

my lead removal choice is go to a smoke shop and get a screen for smoking pot then use a jag only like a dollar for 10

This may or not work for everyone but on 2 SS guns, a Redhawk 45C and a SS Rossi Puma also in 45C, ive ben using Kroil. What I do is soak the barrels with a wet patch and wait 10 or 15 minutes and then pass a good tight cotton patch. I dont see any difference betwen flannel or worsted. Your want a good tight fit and just push a patch or two through and the bore will be spotless. I have not tried this with a blue, carbon stell barrel, so I dont know if it will work there. But in limited use on the SS, it almost effortless and you dont hvae to run all over town looking for copper scrubby pads. The Kroil also does a good job on most of the carbon and crud.

Just be very careful that your "Chore boy" type pad isn't copper plated steel as some are.
Personally I use a Lewis Lead Remover. Fast, easy, and very effective.

I prefer chemichal free methods. I have thought of oiling the bore first, to eliminate the possibility of lead dust poisoning.
