My good friend, and all around super cool guy John (Hivelocity on the forum) gave me his old Lyman 450. It has been laying around the shop for quite soom time and was missing some parts. After cleaning off the runs, unsticking the moving pieces and making the parts I needed, i think i have a nice functional luber sizer. Thanks John
Problem is, I have never used one, and need some help getting it adjusted properly. My main question is, how do I adjust the tension on the lube piston, and how do I adjust the limit stop. How low do I want the top punch to push the bullet into the die.
Thanks.

see if this link works its for the 4500 sizer but will work for the 450 also.

me I adjust the limit screw to size boolit deeper till it greases the groves without going all over the boolit nose
not hard to do. do one then adjust up or down and do 1 more kinda trial and error.

once i get the piston pressure adjusted, how often will I have to add more pressure?

You want just enough pressure to lube that one boolit.
then next boolit inserted may or maynot get completely lubed,
then just turn the screw 1/8 turn or so.

if you crank up too much pressure,
you will start to se leaking lube on the boolit
or around the die, or even out the top of the pressure nut (piston)

......with almost every bullet you need to add an eighth of a turn or so depending on lube. Looking at a Star for my hard lube rifle bullets although the Lyman 4500 and RCBS LAM II work fine once heated up enough...

Lube pressure needed varies with the diameter of the bullet being sized and lubed. For example a 6.5 dia. bullet will need less often pressure pumped than a .454 dia. bullet. I have done 3 or 4 in a row 6.5 bullets before needing to crank on more pressure than doing 1 or 2 bullets in .454.Robert

+1 for H416T - 30 cal's can go 2-4 between cranks, while 44-45's get an 1/8 turn per boolit - more or less.
YMMV...

I turn it less than 1/8 th turn. I just give it a bump. All parts you need for the Lyman 450 are available from Lyman.
