I have forever used the Lyman 358156 in 38 and 357, was majoriyt of my shooting regarldless, but due to increase in gas check prices, I tired the Lyman 358 Cowboy, 358665, damn have I been impressed. I'm not necessarily fan of Lyman but have used dozens of their moulds, you might want to try this 158 RNFP 665 mould. It has been a delight far as accuracy is concerned in rifle and pistol for me. I have a 358311 4 cavity mould that shoots great too, this CB Mould seems to be RNFP version of that old favorite and I can use in rifle too.

It took Lyman two tries to get my 358665 mold right but initail testing shows that it works pretty well in the carbine . I haven't tried it in the revolver yet but sooner or later I'll get to that .

the old 358-416 worked well for me back in the 70's, and there wasn't much difference twixt it and the new cowboy 358-665. I would have kept that mold had it not been a single cavity.

The lyman 358665 RNFP bullet is a great boolit. It falls for me at 158gr, perfect for 38 special and 357. It feeds good in a rifle. It has a large meplat to make a good hunting boolit. The icing on the cake is it does not need a gas check. I know that Lee and RCBS have their own versions of that boolit and probably all of the mold makers make it also. It is one of my favorites also.

Yes indeed, I too have found that the 358665 bullet is a very good one for my 357 Marlin Cowboy Ltd rifle.

Favorite load for NRA Cowboy SIlhouette is 11/4759 for 1,400 f.p.s. I've had some 2 1/2" groups @ 100 yards with that combo. Another favorite is 21.5/SWISS FFFG powder with SPG used for the lube. What fun!
