Today I went to the scrap yard to sell the scrap listed below:
Fired brass primers- 19 lbs- $1.90 per lb. $36.00
Empty scrap Brass- 25 lbs- $ .75 per lb. $18.75
Zinc- 35 lbs- $ .40 Per lb. $14.00
Aluminum Cans 5 lbs- $ .75 per lb. $3.75
Total $72.60

I told him the 35 lbs were zinc but he wrote it up as lead so the price was much higher. Zinc is only about $.10 Lb.
It just shows don't throw anything away.

Cartridge brass is called yellow brass. It must be a big difference for some reason.

Cartridge brass is generally high brass containing 30-35% zinc with the balance copper. Based on the above prices I'd say the primers have more copper.
