I received my usual monthly American Rifleman magazine yesterday. There was a two-page notice in it that started with, "ACT NOW This is Your Last Print Issue of: American Rifleman. To receive the American Rifleman in NRA's New Premium digital Edition, Call 1-877-672-2000 or Visit NRA.org/GoDigital Today..."

I phoned the number and the nice lady said that she could confirm my subscription and that the real magazine would continue. I am not sure if my subscription would have continued if I had not phoned, but being old and wise to the ways of bureaucracies, both governmental and others, I would advise others to phone the number. I wonder how much longer we'll have a choice.

I get those threats in the mail all the time. Everyone from Cabelas to Harbor Freight is constantly warning me that "This is your last issue if you don't..."

If only.

My April 2011 copy of the American Rifleman had no such notice ???

But there was a great re-print of a April 6 1911 article,
"The Greatest Pistol in the World"

I think the idea is to convince as many as possible to sign up for the emagazine to save printing costs. We get the Hunter, Freedom, and Rifleman via mail currently, Rifleman did come with that notice . Expect I'll stay with paper . Being a Lifer doesn't stop the junk mail by any means - daughter is Annual, wife's a Lifer, I'm a Benefactor Life, and occasionally still get a request to join !

No notice in mine but boy do I get mail from them and phone calls. I do what I can but it seems the more you do, the more they contact you.

I have been a Life Member for forty years, and an annusl member for a long time before that. I got the notice; maybe it's the because of the nastygram I sent them about 1985.

Nope...nuthin' in my April issue and I'm not even a "Lifer." Been a member for a couple month past 50 years and regularly contributed my share of critical commentary (very, very rarely answered). Guess they don't want to hear (or read) my opinion (again!) of the level American Rifleman has sunk to in the last several years.

I also told them to keep it, I don't read garbage. Hopefully the extra bucks go to worthwhile lobbying.

Got the notice and went digital. If you want an extra mag in digital form, it's $4.95 per year.

I switched to Handloader in digital form a couple years ago and I'm happy with that. For $20 I get all three of Wolfe's magazines.

I did not get the notice but called anyway. The woman I spoke with said they are phasing in the change so, if you didn't get the notice you probably will later.
Thanks for the warning NVCurmudgeon

Phase it in...I'll be phasing it out.
I feel their accounting, salaries, et. al. are getting out of line versus what they claim to do..........

Accountability gentlemen, that's what it's all about.....And I am beginning to have some concerns....about all of them self professed defenders of my rights...................
