Iraqvetern8888, and ammosmith have good videos on youtube. I think there is a guy by the name of Goatlips (thinking I saw it here) that has some good video. http://goatlipstips.cas-town.com/smelting.html
There was a very informative video on one of the 1911 sites. Thinking i got it bookmarked at home. Turns out not video but great post nonetheless http://www.m1911.org/ezine/casting.htm

The commentary and pics shown earlier are great helps. I would like to pick up a propane burner along with the hose, regulator, etc. Where did you casters get your burners? Name brands, place of purchase, etc. 'Tuck

is where I found a pretty good burner. Still doing a slight modifcation to it to get more effective use of propane. I am using the kick a banjo burner to melt my wheel weights. My mod to the burner is trying to reduce the height of the flame to dutch oven to better use the heat of the burner.

RedHawk357Mag:

Thanks for the steer to Bayou Classics. Found what I wanted!

BTW, your handle - RedHawk357Mag - I had a set of RedHawks, all in SS, all 5 1/2" bbl. length and in calibers .357, .41, & .44 Mag. (that was before Ruger started making them in .45 Colt). I loved them and they were all great shooters. The .357 had the longest leade I've ever seen in a revolver. Must have been 3/8th" of essentially no rifling. It would really spit Winchester's 125 gr. hollowpoint out at phenomenal speeds - 1825 fps over the chronograph. Accounted for a few mangled groundhogs during the time I had it. 'Tuck

RedHawk357Mag:

Just sent in my order for the largest, sturdiest propane burner at Bayou Classic Depot, the SP40 for $ 130. Thanks for the steer in that direction.

BTW, can you enlarge on the mods you intend for your burner? 'Tuck

Glad to help. Somebody steered me there from here. Excellent site we got ourselves. Love the 5.5 RedHawks:) The Smiths aren't no slouches either, but I look at them mostly. The RedHawks I shoot the bejesus out of:) The mods in works I will get at again Sunday and I will snap a couple of pics to better explain what I am trying. I have burnt one and half Blue Rhinos not very efficiently with it unmodified. Kansas wind will always try to get a vote in everything you do.
