Shot this group at the range today. I think this load is a keeper. 32 grains IMR 4831, lee 180 grain flat point, cci 200 primer. Six shots at 100 yards from a 94 win, with a williams peep.

That is great shooting and from a lever gun with pep sights too. I would be proud.

I never knew a 94 could shoot that good with ANYTHING! Never let that one get away from you. Great shooting, I wouldn't be able to find the peep let alone the target.

lead slinger,

Very nice shooting! Just goes to show what the good 'ole .30-30 is capabable of in a good rifle and a good man behind it.

Just curious.......Was the 4831, IMR or Hodgdon? Bullet?

Thank you,

THAT is fine work at 100 yards, for sure. As stated above, your rifle is a real keeper.

Impossiblities are sooner or later proven wrong! Great show, even if not ever to be repeated. ... felix

Mine does that with jacketed & same sights. If I ever get the rifle back from my brother, maybe I'll get a chance to find out how well it shoots cast. I had 150FN's down to about 2" with charges of RE7, and souopcans even smaller, but had not had a chance to go heavier when he "borrowed" it several deer seasons ago. [smilie=1: Not that I'm worried, He's welcome to it and he takes extremely good care of firearms, but I wish I'd had a chance to do more tests with it.

My pre-64 model 94 30-30 likes that load also. I use 34 gr of IMR 4831 with the same bullet and the groups are 3 inches at 200 yards with a Williams sight. Who said you need a bolt gun for accuracy? It looks like all you need is the right load in a model 94.
