I will be making a barrel for my contender to shoot only cast. My question is twist My choice in blanks offers 1:20 or 1:14 Which is best.

Of the two you mentioned...I would go with the 14 pitch....I ordered my 15 incher with a 16twist and have never looked back...

I would also go with the 1-14 twist. Usually 30cal rifles use a 1-10 and I built a 44 rifle with a 1-16 twist that worked well. 1-20 would be used in the new Marlin 45-70 guns, so , smaller caliber-faster twist.
