Today was my second time casting boolits. I had a tempature gauge this time and added a little tin to the mix...wala, wrinkle free bullets. This is sweet.

Congrats! Wait 'til you shoot them, then you'll think this is sweet! :drinks:

Keep um running hot and you will avoid wrinkles. Wrinkles come from to cool a melt. Good luck!

I try to run the melt as cool as possible and NEVER get wrinkled boolits unless the mould isn't up to temp yet. On the other hand, in my early days of casting, I've run 900-950 degree melt and put out wrinkled boolits...

Do what works best for you. However, I'm in the camp that says it's the mould temperature, not that of the pot, that determines boolit quality.

I cast some more yesterday and 90% came out perfect. Outside temp was mid 70's and very windy. I could never get the pot above 600 degrees. Average temp was in the low 500's. I used a torch to heat up the mold and all was well. I am hopping to set up my new Saeco this weekend and try the lube. I assume this will take the seams out of the boolits?

You guys that say you are casting perfect boolit's ha, I don't believe that for a minute without pic's:)

It will take the seams out of the bands of the boolits (the part that gets sized) but will not do anything with the seams on the nose of the boolit.

You want to really freak out. Do the math.

That is my cost using Unique power($106 per 8lbs), WW lead($1 per pound) and Primers ($23 per K)

For me the largest savings is 41 magnum. All the stores near me only sell premium defense ammo and it cost roughly $40 per 20 rounds so $2 a shot.

Incorrect, Sir! Wrinkles are caused by a mould that is too cool, not the melt. I get best results from a melt that's only 100 degrees +/-above the liquidus point of the particular alloy I'm using, and cast at a fast enough pace to keep the mould nice and hot, whatever temp it likes to drop good boolits.

Just tryin' to keep it straight for the new guy.
