View Full Version : What about 339365?

seppos

Sharp as needle..High BC:s, but would it be possible to have them for the .338:s..
If there is enough interested people, maybe Swede will press the go- button for it.

Am I the only one having trouble opening the link to Photobucket? Seppos - You thinking something in the 250-260 grain range? If Swede would do something like he did for the 358318 RNGC GB where you could get one cavity HP'd and the HP pin puts a flat point or a HP on the boolet, Hmmmm..... very interesting.

Surprised there isn't more interest in this one. Nice practice/plinker for the 338 Edge and Lapuas.

Bump to the top.

250-300grainer would be fine. Byt i'd like the boolit as pointy as possible...maybe a 300grainer would need a blunt nose to be short enough to fred through My rifles magazine. I'd probably use it as singleshot repeater anyhow...hmm

I'd even entertain the idea of a boolit heavier than 300 grains We might be giving-up some velocity anyway, to keep the leading controlled, longer boolit means higher BC (all else being equal, of course)
Maybe a sharp point and 325-to-350 grains?

Bob J

I'd be in for a 300 grain (or so) sharp.....

OK, I'm firmly commited to a 2-or-3 cavity of the "340302". And I'd pop the extra $10 for the small order, if required.

Ok, i'll bite.
A 3 or 4 holer +$10 is fine with me if the boreriding part is snug enough for my barrel...need to slug it.

SCB were you thinking of any particular cartridge with this in mind..? Seems the .338 Spectre would benefit from it, especially if its basically a scaled up and sharpened up 311247...

A flatnose pin or some easy way to flatten would be nice, but considering the cost of .338 j-words, anything is an improvement :-)

I'm definitely interested.

340302 in the 300-325gr range would be enough reason for me to start thinking about a B-I-G 338. The 341299 is another fine looking design.

Pencil me in for a four cavity of which ever is decided on. If we can do both, that would be fine for me. One of each, and thank you kindly...

These are the dimensions as modeled in SolidWorks

They of course can be changed.

The above specs seems to fit my 338 Lapua perfect!
Any estimate on the weight of such a boolit?

Do we have ten yet on each design?

The flat nose has "Elk Stomper" written all over it, and the pointy one just looks too fine in a 338 Edge to pass up.

I'd be happy to pay the extra ten-spot to get going.

4-cavity of each, gas checked of course.

With a length of 1.55" we will need to go with our large (deep) blocks.
Will try to get a drawing and more info posted yet this week.

No they are both scaled up 311247. The one basically just has the ogive carried forward to form a point. The lube grooves are toward the back of the boolit to keep them inside the case. Grooves on the 365 are more widely spaced.

http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i80/swedenelson/1111-185-341250grSP.jpg

Was trying to come up with a heavier SP but it will take a complete block redesign.
And that's not in the cards for any time soon.
On the up side we could do either one as a SGB (small group buy)
It would only take 5 orders to get it on the scheduale.

Swede,

what about an SGB package?

RG-2 on the flat nose, and a two cavity spitzer in a four cavity mould? I think it would work, just use a five cavity block and leave the center hole blank to provide a bit of extra clearance for the RG-2 cavities.

I'd be in for this in a heartbeat, even at $150 plus S&H.

Well,
I contacted SwedeNelson about something I noticed. the 850 grain .513 mold will make a Boolit 1.795" long. seeing that I thought, if he used those blocks we could probably get our 300 grain .339 pointy Boolit some of us want so much. He replied and said he thought it would work, and he would tr to make some time for it. If there is not much response here, I'll just start a new thread for it, unless Swede beats me to it.
