I am on the hunt for a 125gr boolit that can handle 1600-1700 fps. the hitch is that im loading them in a 9x25 dillon which is a 10mm necked down to a 9mm. the neck is only about .170 long so there is not much neck there to capture driving bands and a GC. so any ideas on what i can do?

I'll suggest the Lee 125 Grain RNL Mold number 90309 or 90457 a 2 banger and a 6 banger.

This is a standard lube groove boolit with the lube grove set pretty low on the boolit base. This should work with your .170 case neck.

I use this boolit, loaded on 8 grains of Bluedot, in my Taurus PT99 with a 6 INCH Bar Sto barrel and average 1450 FPs with no leading using Carnuba Red as a lube.

I use this boolit specifically because of the size and location of the lube groove.

I have never had the oppertunity to push this past the 1450 FPS threshold so can't comment on 1600 to 1700 FPS results.

Possibley a saeco# 924 a 124 gr swc gc or a custom mould made to your specs from one of the mould makers from this fourm . i personaly have 1 lbt and 2 mountian moulds that i am very satisfied with. at the velocties you want in my opinion a gas ck bullet is mandtory
I have the rcbs 124 gr rn gc but the nose length might be to long in the 9x25 ? it workes excellent in the 9mm & 38 super if you want i could send you some to try out ! leave a PM
you will possibley need a swc or a tc nose profile
What is the max c.o.l. for the cartrage ? that way you can determin the nose to crimp length.

I agree with Bob. You have an application outside the normal 9mm design parameters. A custom gas-checked bullet seems like a good idea. This way you get exactly what you need, instead of somebody elses idea of what might sell to a lot of folks with more pedestrian needs.

The velocities and pressures you are looking at you'll likely find better success with a GC and in that I give a +1 on giving a cutom mold maker the nod on designing a mold that fits your unique and particular needs.

Plain base boolits would probably lead like a bear at those velocitys. I have no experience with gas check boolits for this caliber. A friend was using one in IPSC and had severe leading problems with every boolit and alloy we tried. He switched back to condums.

One thing for sure, I hated acting as RO when some one was shooting one of those darn things. Even with foam plugs and muffs. I had to put several of the 9X25's over the chrono during one of our regional matches. Unpleasent to say the least.

I am not a fan of the 9X25!!!
