Thanks Rugerfan,
I always enjoy seeing that place.

A fellow I know was a senior machinist on the Rock during the hey-day years. He has been retired for maybe 15 years now. He used to tell me stories of being assigned for days upon end to cut up weapons that were deemed surplus to the government. High Standards, Smith mdl 41s, German rifles/ handguns, plus our own military weapons just to name a few. Some were used but some were brand new never issued. He is a collector (mostly military) himself and told me it was a very difficult assignment. I had tears in my eyes.

Did they still have the stuffed horses?

That cutting detail your friend had to endure sounds like hell on earth.

My old agency at least withdrew serviceable examples in calibers we issued/used before having the "destruction guns" melted. The worst part of THAT detail was all the pols and leftist newsies getting pics and video of the guns being turned into re-bar for freeway construction, and beating their gums for "safer streets" and all that hoplophobic twaddle. A real stomach-turner.
