This paticular M 25 has overly large cylinders. Measured .454 bullets don't even slow down as they fall through the cylinder.

454 is as big as I have been able to locate.

Other than maybe a rifle bullet, anyone know of a source for .455-.456 250ish grain bullets?

Thanks,

salty

If you have a mold then drill hole in bottom and do a hone job to open it up they call them rabbit hunter jobs here. LOL

Yea, those S&W throats can be huge, I had an M 25 that had .458+ throats! The barrel measured .452, so even if you could fill the throats those slugs get mashed down a bunch going down the tube, which isn't real conducive to good accuracy.

I don't know of a commercial boolit maker who may have .455, but Bullshop on here may have some molds that cast large enough he could size them to .455 or whatever you may need. RCBS makes the 45-255-SWC that I think is to drop at .454 but mine ran at .455 and there is BRP that has the clone RCBS design that is designed to drop at .455. Bruce at BRP makes molds from 1 cavity to 5 cavity and HP's molds as well.

Look at the Remington or Winchester bulk lead bullets from Midway; I forget which one, but they run .455" or so. Have you tried .454" cast in it? Mine shoots them reasonably well, and the throats run .456-457".

Other than that, look at a 'lightweight' .458" rifle boolit - say, 300-350 grains.

Typical for this gun. Which is why I never wanted to fool with one.

I have a GB 454190 mould that dropps boolits in the .455~.456 range. Send me a PM if you care to work something out trade wise...

Hollow based boolits can help in these revolvers with hugely oversized throats. Skirt expands
to fit, keeping things reasonably well lined up. They have pressure limits, though, not good
for hot loads as it can blow out the skirt and unbalance the boolit as it exits the muzzle.

Good luck, these a problematic. My Ruger BH was the opposite, way too small, but that is
pretty easy to fix by reaming and polishing. Hard to put it back.

You'll have to bid for it, but here's your mold.
