Having just received a new and beautiful NOE 311-165 mold, I could really use some help in finding an accurate load. I load for and shoot both a 1970's era Win. 94 and a 1949 Marlin 336a. Both shoot the Lee 311-150 very well and the 336a does good with the 31141. So far, I have not been able to get the Win. to shoot any thing over 150gr.

This is after trying five different powders with several charge weights. Actually it's not a big deal since I got the Marlin and it shoots everything I've tried fairly well. So after being so long winded, does anyone have any pet loads for a 10 twist ballard rifled Marlin?
Thanks
Kirk

My 336 is microgroove but that should not make a big difference. Try 2400 starting with around 14 gr. I use 17gr in my Marlin. Shoots very well for me. No leading even after 50 rounds.

This should give you around 1700 fps. Recoil is light enough to allow you to shoot all you want in a day.

25 grains RE-7 shoots good in my Marlin and my 23 inch contender with BRP'S 173GC.Velocity is good and brass life is good since pressure is moderate.

45r: Thanks I'll try that load as I just bought pound of RE-7 to try in my 222mag with cast.

RELOADER 7, 24-26 GRAINS.
Use 50-50 ww /pb , heat treated to 21+.
This shoots great penetrates into next week, issuperhard but retains malleability inlieu of the brittleness of linotype.
Several Marlins, old pre-micro groove, and newer MG all shoot it well. You may need to fiddle a little with the OAL due to differences in the throat depths.

Results?
Look in the hunting with cast bullets section, see "Short story.. six pigs, sixty seconds"

I have 2 Winchesters Very old, and as-new new, and it shoots fine in them. That is, I've never shot paper groups, but it killed pigs just fine.
