I am using a new 4500 sizer and my new .452 is sizing my boolits to .450 and my .309 is coming out at .306 is there any thing that can be done about this besides dealing with all the returning, shipping ect.? Is this a comon problem??
They are all new and all lyman, but yet the 401 I also got at the same time is exactly .401

I don't believe it's a common problem, but does appear from time to time.

Go here for an easily done, do-it-yourself fix. (Truely, a very informative site.)

Gun Nut, I believe 462 meant the CASTPICS site at the bottom of your screen. You'll want to look for the research section and then, "Honing A Sizing Die."

Please also make sure you are using a micrometer and not a caliper to measure. Calipers do not have the accuracy to measure boolit diameters accurately, usually they read low due to thumb pressure on the adjustment on them.

The most accurate way to use a caliper for this is to close by using pressure on the actual jaws, but this still isn't as precise a measurement as a micrometer.

Yea, I know I have been working in a machine shop for 10 years all I do is measure stuff. I used 2 diffrent mitchtoyo mics. But I belive this ones on Lyman:sad:

IME this is common. I've had dies a full thou under sized, some were even closing on .002 under. Your dies are about as bad as I've ever heard of.
