I am one step closer to casting.

1. Tire shop friend collect free ww for me.

2. camp stove

3. ladle.

4.***** BUY mold and dies ****( need help with this. )

I slugged my .308 and it was .... .308

I slugged my MN and it was .312 the best i could tell

I would ( if I could could) cast one boolit ( probabaly the Lee 155 gr ) and the size it to each rifle with appropriate Lee dies. I am open to other boolits as well. 170gr? Don't care all that much. Just want one to start with.

Am I too far apart to do this? Seems like I would have to cast in .312 or .314 and then size down to .312 for the Mossin nagant and then size again to .309 or .310 for the .308?
Need a little advice here.

This is my 3rd post and want to say thanks for previous help and in advance for this help.
PS--yes, I need to be on the frugal side. Time saving is second, frugal first.

It sounds like you have a grip on the idea.
I think that I would rather have 2 different molds since the sizing would take more than 1 step. You would likely wipe the lube grooves out by sizing down too much and you would need more dies to size in steps.

Buy one mold to start. ck boolit diameter as cast from mold. try in MN unsized if big enough. Try in .308 un sized to see if it fits. Shoot. size if necessary. shoot again.

Have fun.
it's supposed to be fun.

PM me I can send you some sized unsized samples to try.
Best case, you want .001-.002 over bore.

You will almost undoubtedly end up with more than one mold. I have a 309-160 that my 30/30 handi likes sized at 308 but my garand likes the 312-155 sized at 311. I expect that when I get around to slugging my Mosins they will be bigger and I will need a different mold then for them. Incidentally I got the 312-155 for a 303 brit and found that it would not shoot them well at all. It may work in the mosins bore but I won't know till I either slug , or try that bullet in them. I would not be at all opposed to getting another mold to play with though.
