Buchshot knows the Duke, but I know where his secret plot is burried

It must have been a privilege to pose with the ole Duke, I really like your picture of him and you.

But I have the distinction of knowing his unmarked burrial plot in the Newport Beach cemetary.

The Duke was burried in more or less secret because of the possiblity the crazies in California would dig him up.

Now how this all came about was the fact my wifes father was burried at sea back in the 80's and his name is on a plaque for those that were at that NB cemetary.

Her uncle was a mortician at that Newport location, he showed us the plaque at the top of the hill, he then walked us down a hill incline a ways past a lot of blank lawn and pointed to a spot...that's where John Wayne is burried. We had our picture taken standing above the head of his grave.

I could find that spot today if I wanted to, he was burried next to someone I remember well who had an unusal name on his stone marker. But the Duke's secret is safe with me...and I'm not telling.

............I got to shake John Wayne's hand when I was 11 years old. It was at a Goldwater rally held at Knott's Berry Farm.

I got to shake Melanie Morgan's hand at a pro-Bush rally in SF during the Florida recount debacle. (She is on the morning show at KSFO radio, the voice of right wingers.) But John Wayne! I'd never wash my hand again.

Wife's uncle also helped plant a lot of the stars, he said Jimmy Stewert was at the Dukes burrial services that were held in a chapel, not grave side which was done in private with the immediate family.

He also cremated Andy Devine, and the Duke being a good friend was at his going away service.

A lot of the old greats are gone now, they inriched our lives while they were here, and still do with their great movies.
