Bullshop Junior
01-26-2011, 12:05 AM
Ok, This is just a fun thing to do, to burn up time this winter.

Its the first (And maybe last) Annual Ugly gun contest.

Here are the rules.

Take a photo of your ugliest gun, and post it on this thread.

One entry per member.

Gun must be able to be fired.

The dead line is March 1st.

After the dead line, I will set up a poll, and all castboolit members can vote on it (Two week vote)

Winner gets brag rights, unless someone cares to donate a prize.

Alright, lets get this show on the road!!!

Marlin 1894c 357 Mag.

The gun was duricoated Camo, then we replaced the barrel with a stianless one, and replaced the butt stock, and all the duracoa is coming off.

That ain't ugly just looks like a wallyville camo job. I have one maybe I can find someone to take a picture and get it on here (kindof weak in the camera, pictures, and puter stuff) the other problem it is so ugly that it might run off the rest of the competition.

I wish I'd taken photos of a Winchester Golden Spike a diver I knew found in a sunken fishing boat he salvaged.
It couldn't have been in the water more than ten years if that, but wood was totally eaten away, exposed steel eaten through in spots, and the iron frame had rusted under the gold plating so that it resembled a sausage that had been stomped on, crusty rust pushing through the split surface.
I've seen relic Civil War muskets dug up after more than a century that looked better.

The uglier the better and the vote will decide.
Remember though it has to be shootable.
As for the little Marlin you have to see it in person to fully appreciate the level of ugly.

A rattle can will hide a whole lot of UGLY.

I have a mossberg 12 gauge 500 that has about 16 differnt layers of partially worn krylon on it. It has been my goose&duck gun/beater gun/critter finishing club/canoe paddle/walking stick/dog scent post:roll: and a few other not so glamorous things in the 20+ years since I bought it brand new. It does not need racked back as that function has been automatic upon firing for years now. It has been through the trees at high velocity due to a boating accident caused by the "captain" severely underestimating the turning radius and "planing" ability of his 399 Rotax snowmobile engine powered homemade hyperdrive mud motor at full speed. It has been submerged to clean the mud/muck etc out of it on more than one occassion.

Only thing it has ever needed from wear and tear is a new bolt when the crosspin area in the bolt cracked up to the top of the bolt. It has also had the buttstock replaced after I had to decide who was going to win a fight between a 200 pound chessy and a 15 ounce mink with a seriously bad attitude.

I could drag this tool behind me on a rope and not even feel bad about it. It has likely put more "poundage" on the table than all my other toys combined and I can tear it down/clean it/reassemble it in the dark with one leg tied to a buddies gun shy labrador.

Here is the old girl in all her glory:

That is almost like cheating now, as that is real ugly....luckily sometime ugly is fixable.........unless your name is Hillary or Nancy anyway.

Just do not put the barrel back on the way it's facing you might shoot yourself.:kidding:

That had to be a bit "interesting" when that happened...hope the operator was OK.

I have this highly engraved Winchester to enter. Unfortunately I cannot post enough photos to show all the fine work. Most all of the exterior metal on this fine rifle has been engraved. And, yes, the bore is NOT engraved. It shoots fine.

Hey! I was told the work was done by a master engraver and paid extra for it! It truly is a work of art. Hard to show the detail but one should note the coverage includes most of the screw heads, and of course the barrel bands and both front and rear sights.

(I was told it was put away bloody after successful elk hunt) Before I became it's caretaker.

"Tis pretty awful isn't it? A shame to treat a good rifle that way.

"Sporterized Mk V"

An old Pasedena Arms Mk V that I used for years to hunt Hogs and Sheep. Couldn't get a magazine for it so I modified it with a box magazine from a Mdl. 100 and held it in place with fiberglass and Microbed. Used to buy cheap cordite ammo from the gun shows, since it has a 2 groove barrel corrosion wasn't a big concern.

Accuracy was minute of pig and most shots were at under 20yds.

In transition. Looks much better now with final shaping, sanding and paint. I use this as my offhand "practice" rifle for rifle silhouette. Cast is far more economical to shoot that jacketed.

Can't find the picture at the moment. I will post it when found.

I don't have an ugly gun but an ugly joke.

Here in West Virginia there was a old man that was so ugly that he went Squirrel Hunting without a gun. He would sneek up on the squirrels and hide behind a tree. When the squirrel got so close he would show his face and the squirrel would die from the sudden ugliness that appeared. He was one of the best squirrel hunters around and many ,many times came home with his limit of 6.
One time all the local hunters was at the favorite sporting goods store telling of there days adventure on opening day of the season. Many of the hunters had not even seen a squirrel that day but the old man with his uglinees had bagged his limit of 6.
One of the guys asked the old man, "Since your wife is uglier than you did you ever take her hunting and let her ugly a few squirrels?'
The old man replied: " Yeah one time and that did it for me, the squirrels that she brought home ,the meat was torn up so bad that you could not skin them out."

I've kind of been lurking in the background of this thread and I got to tell you, none of the guns I've seen thus far are really that ugly.

Unique maybe; but not really ugly. Interesting maybe; but not really ugly. Potentially more dangerous to the shooter than the shootie maybe; but not really ugly.

Is there a prize for the winner of this "Ugliest Gun Contest?"

If this thread were more along the lines of The Ugliest Gun Owner, I might have a chance of winning this darn thing.
