Is it just me, or are others having trouble with Hornady gas checks fitting like they used to? I have used the same alloys (usually w/w, or 1-15 or similar) but lately have purchased two boxes of checks in different calibers .25, and .30 that have been undersized for boolits from a few molds I have. Those molds that produced slightly undersized gas check shanks are still working OK. I'm wondering if it is just throwing away money to try some more to hope the next lot is running closer to the size they used to. I could always try a different alloy I guess, but I hate to melt down a couple thousand boolits because the gas checks won't fit, and I really like the molds that are giving me problems. ( Lyman 257420, the Loverin rn in .25, the Lyman 311316, and the Saeco 30 caliber 180 grain flat nose.

The Lee Push through dies will get them on even if you start them crooked. The checks are not going to change, they are all made bu the same manufacturer now and just packaged with different names. The other remedy is to make your own checks with a fine tool on your press like member PatMarlins Checkmaker.

Try the "gator" checks sold by "Blammer"! Good checks, great service! Information can be found in the "Group Buy" section.

The 45cal Hornady gas checks I bought are to big for my RCBS 300 gr RNFP WW cast 45-70 boolits.
