Hi everyone. My name is David but most call me Davy. I'm a little on the new side to casting boolits ;) I bought my first molds last year, Lee 50 cal 250 grain REAL and a Lee 12 ga 1 oz slug. Been having a blast with it, especially the 50 cal since I love my end loaders. It's been a bit of a learning curve but I like it! I've always been one to do for myself whenever possible. I've hand loaded ammo for about 25 years now. Heck many of my guns have never even seen a factory load, lol! I just picked up a set of Lee 30 cal 170 grain FN molds. Gonna use them for my 30 Herrett loads for my Contender and for my 300 Savage. Thinking about grabbing up a 30-30 Win as well since it seems perfect for cast boolits. I also have been building my own arrows for many years as well as turkey calls. My next endeavor though is to build my own long bow and I'm also making a back quiver from a blond raccoon I caught this past November. I guess you can say I'm about as outdoor as you can get and I get great self satisfaction out of be self sufficient.:p I hunt, fish, trap, shoot, and play several instruments with my strength being guitars. I found this site while searching and have already found some great info to help me out.

Ok, you have 2 choices, blue pill or red pill.

The red pill will make you understand that casting will not save you money but rather cost you much in custom molds and other specialized equipment and make you run away very fast.

Or do like us, take the blue pill and welcome to the madness.

Lol! I understand that! Just like tying flies, building arrows, and hand loading ammo................I do it not to save money but because I enjoy it! I guess that's the blue pill for me

Sounds like we have a lot in common. If you are looking for help getting started on making a long bow. There is a lot of nice people that cover that subject well at:

http://paleoplanet69529.yuku.com/

There are several forums dedicated to bow making on the Planet. Do sign up though as non members get a lot of adds and popups when visiting. I post there frequently in the Flint knapping forums and Atlatl forums with the screen name "Rhymeswithwhat"

Russel "venemous76" over there is a great bow making enthusiast and I hit rocks with him too.

Many primitive skill areas are well represented on the Planet.
