just wondering how you would slug a MZ bore with a fixed breech plug.

I layed my .54 caliber GPR on the bench, slid a 1/2" brass rod about a foot long in the barrel and eased the barrel up till the brass rod gently slid all the way down. I stood the rifle up and drove the slug about 2 inches in the barrel. I picked the rifle up and quickly flipped the muzzle down, allowing the rod to free fall against the back of the slug. First time didn't get it. Ease the barrel back up, slide the rod down and repeat. Second time, the slug and the rod came out on the floor.

To check bore size I use gauge pins. Use a light touch and don't stick one in the bore. I never cared about groove size, if a roundball gun the patch will tell you if it's right. A bullet gun doesn't care since the bullets blow out to fill the grooves anyway. Oh, if it is a even number of grooves barrel you can use a snap or ball gauge too.

i think that you size the boolit as you run it down the barrel
