If you have a Cabela's close to you

Just order them on line
Then do the instore pick up , not shipped to your address

That way no shipping or Hazmat , just local tax

Tried that.
They still wanted to charge me the hazmet fees.
According to the "gun dept" this was due to this being a separate shipment to the store.
As opposed to the normal "bulk" shipments that they send out to the stores.
Luckily there is a Cabelas within 15 minutes.
When they ring you up make sure of the pricing.

Nearest to me is fifty miles. If I order enough at that price I could break even on the hazmat though. Or is the hazmat fee based on units, not orders?

I printed the page off. I take them to bass pro and have them price match :)

If nothing else, print the page off and have her go to bass pro and have them price match. Dont let them give her a run around. They will do it. If the dumb person at the register questions it, ask for a manager.

I wish we had a Bass Pro, but the nearest one is in Reno, I think? I know there's one in Vegas, but I ain't driving 8 hrs for primers. I did drive 3 hours once for primers back in the pre-Brady and Assault Weapon ban period in '94. Back then I lived in Vegas, and I drove all the way to a gun show in Cedar City, Utah for primers because there were none to be found in Las Vegas. Kinda like the Obama scare. Drove all that way and only managed to get a box of large pistol and some large rifle, if I remember right. That sucked...[smilie=b:

What do hazmat fees usually run?

I just went to a local shop for 1lb of 2400 and a box of 1000 Winchester small pistol primers. $26 for the powder and $50 for the primers. Thought that was high, but figured I wasn't paying hazmat fees, either. Not sure how I made out, but either way, it's still cheaper than buying a box of ammo at Wal-Mart.

$20 fee from Cabela's, I think Powder Valley is a couple bucks more but they let you combine powder and primers. I have 10,000 cci 400's on the way, thanks for the heads up.

I was reading the new 49th Lyman book and they said it is unsafe to have more than 1000 primers of a certain size.

Wow i guess i am in trouble!!! :lovebooli ;)

High Hook,
I think that means that if you have 5000 or 10000 of one primer you should have 5000 or 10000 of all types to prevent jealousy. What else could it mean?

Well the wife picked me up 2K. That was all they had, and the guy at the counter told her they don't do rain checks for ammunition or components, so get 'em while you can!
