Because of the usual delay by the FBI I won't have it in my hands for a week or two. I bought it embarasingly cheap. It has a mint bore though it has a lot of fine rust overall. Has the flat band so it is a 47 or 48 vintage. No saddle ring. Been kept in an outbuilding for the past ten years. I figure a couple of hours with four ought steel wool and Marvel Mistery Oil it will be about 60 to 70 percent, maybe a little better than that. Still has a little blue on the front and rear of the sides of the receiver.
I have a gas checked 80 something grain boolit mould and I will order dies and brass.
Will get a heavier boolit later. Hard to spend the money on a new mould when I already have one. Does Lee make an acceptable 100 to 120 grain 257 mould?
Please relate what you do to load ammo for the 25 35.

There is a group guy going that you can have 120 and or 100gr bullets in the same mold by NOE (Swede). GC or not or combination. Look for the 25 Heavy group buy.

I have to wait till I get it in hand to decide what boolit I want though that mould seems to solve all problems. I will try some of my little boolits first. So many guns so little money :drinks:
Wait -- does buying guns cause me to have no money?

The Lyman 257325 is the 25-35 boolit. Made to have the gas check at the bottom of the neck when crimped in the crimp groove. Lovely.

IMHO, the best value is the one I just got from Ranch Dog. 6-cavity, 80 grain, gas checked, $60. He also sells a .258 Lee Lube and Size kit -- which even Lee doesn't carry. That was my hold-up for my Win 25-35.

Also, Midway has 25-35 brass in stock again. Bought some yesterday.

20 gr 3031 and the 257420 bullet is deadly on the steel gongs at the lever action shoots in competent hands. (not mine obviously).

took mine to a Lever action shoot, and wound up letting somebody else shoot it. He ran the first three gongs, and won the match.

Mine is a 52 model

My 25 caliber mould turns out to be a 65 grain FP GC. A great 25 20 boolit.
Therefore I am entertaining the idea of asking Bullshop if he can supply some 100 grain GCFP .257/8 boolits with nasa lube to figure if that is what I want.
By the way this rifle turned out to be in great condition. Has a near perfect bore.
Looks to have been carried about ten thousand miles in someones hands. Fired maybe fifty or a hundred times.
The rust came off with only a few hours of diligent scrubing with steel wool. No pitting at all.
Insides are nearly new. I detail stripped it and cleaned every part. All screws are totally un buggered.
Butstock has outstanding tiger grain.
This is the first 25 35 gun of any kind I have ever owned and I have had hundreds of guns in the last fiftyfive years.

It's just an old worn 94. Real solid. Nicest buttstock I have seen on a carbine.
To make it complete I need a front sight hood.
Gun show tomorrow.:drinks:

I have a Nikon D 40 digital camera Also have a Sony a300. I guess it would be time for me to learn how to post pics. My wife can do it.
