Here are some of the boolits from my first casting. I think I had one of the molds a little to hot.

I shot some of them this Am and they did well. I came home and cleaned my 45 and 44 and did not find any sign of leading. I water dropped them and added about 12-14 inches of Solder to a 20# pot so it seems like I am doing OK for now.

you're close.
the mold probably just needs a few more cycles, then it'll settle down.
it looks like you got some frosty spots like the stream was hitting one spot in the mold.

Welcome! It is very fun. I shoot frosted boolits all the time. They will shoot just fine- Good job!

Frosty boolits hold more lube I hear...

Congratulations, Grubby! Good feeling, isn't it?

Tumble lube seems to stick to anything, but I get the warm fuzzies if there is an even, light frosting on TL boolits. My problem is getting a two-banger Lee mould hot enough to get the frost in the first place, have to make about five pours a minute and quench the sprue plate per BruceB's method to keep the blocks hot enough to frost with the .45 boolits. Looks lie you did just fine to me, after all the proof is in the shooting.

Moonie:

WIth a Lee Tumble Lube mold, if one side is frosting, mike that bullet allowing the mike to measure on the " frosted side " vs. a 2nd bullet you've cast that is a good bullet that isn't frosted and tell me what you get ?
