Anybody casting today?
It's just another day for me so I thought I'd do a run of my NOE mould.

No, just reloading, ordering supplies, and sizing boolits. :)

Not me! Still below freezing here, has to be at least 32 degrees before I fire up the pots and lite the space heaters in the boolit shack.

Plus I have to recover from a visit to the butt doctor!

just got back in the house from casing about 25# of .45 Colt bullets. It's 65* with a light breeze and a few clouds. Makes up for our summers.

No Adam, I do not think that I will get to casting today...maybe tomorrow. I am still in the process of cleaning my residence/pig stye out enough to make room for me at the Kitchen table/casting table.

During the rest breaks I am fondling my new Ruger .44 Bisley or Sgt Rambo.

I am contemplating a large order for Midway which will include case gauges for .41 Mag, 44 Spcl., OAL gauges for my 6.5 x 55 MM Sweede, 30-06, 303 Brit and a myrid of other small stuff that quickly adds up to hundreds of bucks.

Blake is home welding up some ingot molds and may even get to doing an action job on my new Smith Mod 57 .41 Magnum which followed me home last week.

Life is good.

Probably will cast some .41's tomorrow afternoon. I have plenty of .45's and .38's cast already. (I do need to reload a few hundred .38 wadcutters and some .380's; may start on that tonight)

Too much company to interact with for most of the next week, but we will be shooting some of my past work.

didn't cast today swaged/loaded some more 44's.
then promptly went and watched the kids and friends empty them.in the win and browning 92 and the DW revolver.
they went through a pile of number one wifes 223 loads too.
i think she waas glad we didn't take the armalite.
but the cans were bouncing around.
quite a sight to see little girl hefting the 10 pound varmint rifle shooting soda cans.

Spent the day cleaning - the house for company tomorrow and the Brown Bair press after that. Think I pulled a muscle in my back, maybe bulged a disk slightly.

No reloading or casting for a while. Next week is dedicated to a couple of MD appointments and building in the benches and storage shelving for the reloading/gun room. Then start mounting presses and moving and organizing stuff. For the first time I will have a place for almost everything associated with reloading. Gives me a chance to have well mounted presses, too. No longer clamped to a table. It will probably take me most of a weekend to get things moved and put away. Then back to reloading. I've got a couple of projects waiting for a well mounted press, on a bench that won't bend under the pressure.

I made up some ammo for my 1076 today, but didn't make any boolits.

Was tempted to make some more after seeing how nice they look when loaded. :)

Today's mail had a package from BT Sniper. I bet my next 44 mag loads are cause for excitement at both ends of the range.
Those BT .44 XTP look alikes are great.

Finished a batch of beeswax and later packaged up a bucket of Lanolin. Then cleaned up a bunch of snow in the drive way. All busy work to keep my mind off my Nephew. Thursday someone found him passed out in the morning. Just before work.

My sister called and said my Nephew is in Critical Care with double pneumonia and is in a coma (induced) heart is not working very good same with the kidneys. Also on a ventilator..He is only 28 yrs old..I'm praying he will make it. I hope he makes it through this. Sorry for the bad news, but I had to share this.

Tomorrow will be a casting day if I get back in time from visiting my nephew. I doubt I will get to go in the room but at least I can visit my sister and comfort her.

You see, any day can be a casting day. It is therapeutic, good for the soul, helps me keep my sanity. Even on a Christmas day.

Sunday is the big family day, when we can gather and enjoy some good food together.

I got in trouble for casting today --- apparently the black stinky smoke from my smelting wasnot going up but rather being blown dead east by the wind from the west --- the barn on my mans place is west of the house --- where all the company is gathered right now --- [smilie=1:

It's still today in AZ :)

I smelted 67 pounds of ingots from stick ons into half size square muffin tin ingots. This new square muffin tin is awesome. They stack a lot better than the round ones. I poured the stick ons half size to keep them straight . . . I was aiming for one pound each. Got 68 ingots to weight 67 pounds, not too bad. :D

Up to 621 pounds now smelted. Linotype, WW, & Pb. Not bad considering I've only got $20 into the lead at this point.

Merry Christmas everyone!

I just found this thread @ 6:46 CHRISTmas morning. but yesterday, no, i didnt do any casting, nor will i today, as i will be doing the daddy thing to two pretty good little monsters. now, tomorrow, i HOPE to be a different matter. i just got (bought myself a present) a pail of wheel weights to smelt.
God has given me the ability to see most things from both sides, so in one way, you are lucky that you have nothing to tie you down, and can do whatever you want, when you want. on the flip side, it is to bad that you dont have a couple of monsters yelling and screaming on CHRISTmas morning with you. they are the biggest pain in the butt you will ever love more than anything else or one. PERIOD. i would not want to get rid of my casting/ reloading equipment, or any of my firearms. but if that meant doing something really important with or for the kids, i would seLl (most) of it in a heartbeat. they are VERY TRYING at times, but the love i get back is no match for anything else on this earth. i hope you enjoy today, live it to the fullest! MERRY CHRISTMAS!

I cast yesterday while I had a ham on the smoker (pecan smoke, but of course. btw, pretty darn good ham) with my new NOE 225-60-RN. What a sweet little boolit! It came in the mail Thursday, and since the oven was already doing Christmas duty it got the heat and cool cycle per Al's instructions. I will probably cast some more today. Yesterday was a fairly good casting day as it was cool and the humidity was up. Left over ham will be pulled pork sandwiches next week. Mmmmm....

Randyrat,
Our prayers are with your nephew.

Yesterday I cleaned out the garage while smelting in the 20# pot. I made little 1/2# ingots out of 3# and 10# ingots.

We'll be travelling today, but I may cast some tomorrow.

Merry Christmas All,
Hopefully I'll get a chance this evening to sneak back to the barn and cast up some Lyman 429421's. Loaded and shot some today and I've only got 12 boolits left. Thought I had some more but I was mistaken.
Hope you all are enjoying this Christmas, jmsj

I smelted (alloyed, rendered, whatever) yesterday as I was all out of boolit metal ingots. Since I have a family of late sleepers, my plan was to get up early and cast for an hour or two. HOWEVER, this morning as I was sitting on the edge of the bed reaching for my glasses, my son walked in holding his wastebasket and said he had upchucked. I decided to hold off since he rarely blows only once. Turns out he slept til noontime and seems fine, so maybe either tonight or tomorrow.

I love being a Dad!
