A few days back, there was a thread going on in the Casting Equipment section about ladles. I posted that I had to use a small ladle because of the problems I'm having with my hands. A few of the ol' timers here responded in understanding to my plight.

I stopped by the Post Office this morning. There was a small shipping tube in my box from a company that I did not recognize and knew that I had not ordered from.

You cannot, in any way, understand how I felt when I opened the tube.

Thank you, Ray. You're a wonderful and thoughtful friend. I can assure you this thing is gonna get put to a LOT of use.

Oh, by the way, your thoughtfulness made Janet cry.

Looks dog-gone nice, Jim! I suspect Ray got as much out of making it for you as you will casting with it.

God bless you both!

Yessir, and a large number of them gather here. This is really special, and brightens my holiday spirit just to read about.

Bless you, Ray!

Is that home made or commercial? I have some smaller molds that need something like that. One with a little more of a pouring lip to the left for a fine pour stream.

Seems funny, us gun types here and the number of who comment on an event that happened over 2000 years ago in Bethlehem. It makes me feel good to see the result.

Amen to the above popsts. I have NEVER seen the a friendlier site on the w.w.w. as I have seen here. Best bunch of folks that go to no end to help others. I really have benefited from all of the posts I've read which has greatly enhanced my knowledge of casting boolits. My hat is off to all on this site and I thank you. Have a Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and a safe holiday season.

Yes this is one of those feel good moments :) But now you have to wonder...How did Ray know where to send the ladle? Is he some internet stalker? Does Jim have to now wonder about all the strange packages that show up in the mail now? Just kidding hope you know. Good thing Ray did, except for making Janet cry...LOL....Merry Christmas to all :)

Hate to change the subject a bit, but is something wrong with Jim's melt? Looks kind of lumpy. Could he have zinc in his melt? Just asking cause I read about zinc but don't know how to identify it. Thought the top was suposed to be smooth and shiny. Sorry for the hijack, but since Jim has a picture......thought I would ask :)

Naa, just needs to be fluxed. You are seeing oxides on the melt. How hot was it, Jim?

Merry Christmas, all.

I don't have a thermometer, but I had the dial set to the 9 O'clock position. Max is 11.
I do my casting kinda' like my shooting. I don't worry about temperature or velocity anymore. When I find the sweet spot, I mark it.
