I have been a long time lurker and student of this forum and shot my own cast lead for many years. Shot a few deer along the way, all does. The last year or so I have taken a little different approach thanks to what 44Man has to say as well as several others. Now comes the brag part. Hopefully this picture comes thru. First buck with a handgun. I have taken an awful lot of deer through the years with a lot of different tools, but this one is one of my most memorable. The important data, Lee 310 gc wd ww, sized .4335, 21.5 H-110, Win lp primer, 5.5 inch Redhawk with open sights, 45-50 yards thru the briar and bramble (actually he was standing in a wide open oak grove). He went about 70 yards and crashed hard. The wound you see is the entry. The bullet went thru both lungs and took off the aorta breaking the offside front leg just above the elbow upon exit. Lots of blood right from the get go though it petered out over the last 15 yards.

Welcome aboard.

Great deer, with a cast bullet from a handgun no less. I can see where this one will be memorable for you.

Again, welcome aboard.

Greetings Mr. Heppner & Welcome !
Congradulations on theat fine looking buck ! A thanks from me also sharing that story. Popping corn crunchers is one item I do miss being south of the equater. My dad was a lead bullet shooter and that is how I grew up. I have never fired on a deer with any other projectile but lead. This is my favorite place to be a part of.

Woweee! That's a really nice looking buck, and to do it with a handgun and your own boolits is just icing on the cake.

Congrats on your harvest and welcome to the nut house. There is alot of helpful folks here. I hunted this year with my SRH using the Lee 310 GC boolit over 18 grains of 2400. I didnt see anything to shoot the whole time I had it with me.

Very, very nice!
I wish you many more- excellent buck, and a fine story to go with it!
Man, that's a heavy boolit you used- perhaps you were expecting a moose?
WELL DONE!

Good buck and good shooting. Handgun killed deer taste way better. Makes you wonder why you packed a long gun through the woods all that time for don't it.

Nice buck! Handgun hunting with bullets you've cast yourself becomes a life-long affliction....

Hilton, I spend most of my time between Northstar Sportsman and Rochester Brooks. I am mainly a Sporting Clays type of guy, though I am often led astray. Last June up in Northwestern Alberta.
