What's the best way to open up a push through sizer a thousandth or so?

I take a dowel rod that is slightly smaller than the die, wrap a piece of fine sandpaper around the end, chuck in a variable speed drill and hone her out, moving in & out. Another way is to cover a longer piece of dowel with sandpaper and roll it on your leg while seated. Hold both ends of the rod while only moving the sizer along your leg. This keeps it good & round. Easy & works great for a .001" or so.

I have had to set up almost all my Lee sizers in the lathe and polish the bore a bit. I use a wooden dowel with some 600 or 800 grit paper wrapped around it and get digging. You could use a more abrasive paper or emery cloth, but I'd rather take twice as long and have more control. Plus it leaves a better finish. I've even lapped a few with some jewelers rouge. My sizer for 45 colt is now .4547 with about a 5 micron finish. I pan lube them, so I size and seat gas checks before lubing. I can run them through the sizer no lube, no problem. Been doing it for years, I think I have cleaned the sizer twice, three times maybe.

Thanks MtGun44, It's for a 44mag rifle that might or might not need a GC but I'm going to try both ways

shouldn't need gas checks till you break 1600 or so heck might not need them then either.
i use gas checks in my 44 levergun to make up for the softer than normal alloy i use for hunting.
the normal everyday loads i use are more like 1400 fps and is just ww's and soft lead aircooled but it has pushed to 1650 easily enough.
your lube groove size , lube choice will help you as much or more than a gas check.
