I am needing a barrel for a TC Hawkens 50 cal Flinter should I get the 1/66 tc rb barrel or the GM 1/70 rb barrel ? I am looking for a 100 yd rifle max.

Green Mountain Makes Excellent Barrels I have 3 of them on on my 45/70 Roller another on my Ball shooter 54 cal (One in 70 Twist) and One on my Underhammer 54 cal ( One in 28 twist )
Get the GM barrel you will be glad you did.

I agree completely. Go with the GM.

Yes, Yes, Yes, GM any day of the week. I have had miserable experiences with TC barrels.

I don't have any issues with T/C barrels...but when I made the decision to replace my original Hawkwn bbl. with one more suited for roundball shooting..I chose a Green Mtn. "drop-in". A little fitting on the hook and it went right in. I have had it for about ten years and love it..!! Killed a couple of Whitetail with a roundball over 90 gns. ffg.
Cheers,

The GM barrel is excellent, but the T/C barrel will serve you ok. Plenty to learn from on that barrel.

More important than the barrel is the frizzen (the part the flint hits, that swivels up when struck, and makes the sparks to ignite the powder in the pan). ORDER A REPLACEMENT FRIZZEN!!! The T/C frizzens just don't throw enough branched white hot sparks. I get mine through Golden Age arms in Ohio. High carbon steel, and was ~ $16 last time I got one. It will make ignition so much more reliable.
