I am wanting to build a pistol rack out of wood to fit in my safe. I know I can buy the wire coated racks but I like to work with wood and like to build custom pieces. I just don't have a very creative mind sometimes...

Does anyone have plans or pictures of something of sorts.... Once I can see it I can build it usually.

Thanks in advance

I made a pretty quick one a while back. Very simple. A few V notches in the top edge of a board with 2 cross pieces on the bottom to help it stand. Lined the notches with felt and it was GTG. I'll get some pics tonight when I get home.

The simplest one I can think of in wood would be a wooden rectangle for the base. Drill a series of holes about 3/4 - 1" inside one of the long sides at about 45 degrees. Insert wooden dowels in the holes. Make sure the holes are drilled so the dowels extend out over the wooden base. Use whatever width board you need depending on how many handguns you have. To store your pistols, just slide the barrel over the dowel. Space the dowels far enough apart so that the cylinders clear each other or space them closer together for semi-autos. Just be sure you use a board with plenty of depth (front to back) so that it counters the weight of the guns and doesn't tip forward on you. Good Luck.
