I want to start shooting cast bullets in my Savage 99 25-35 WIN and am curious as to whether the RCBS bullet can be seated so it will fit the magazine and still have the GC in the neck. Can anyone help me out here?

There is certainly a lack of molds in the 100gr.-120gr. range for .257 caliber.

I wish Ranch Dog would design one, maybe just an extended 80 grainer. After all there are a FEW 25-36 Marlins out there!:)

I've had luck in my .25-35 Marlin with the Lyman 257312 (discontinued) and if you want RCBS, the 25-100-FN is good. I've HP'd both of these na dthey do well for me./beagle

There is an ongoing group buy for a .257 100/120gr boolit in the Group Buy section. Coming probably in May, so we have time to save our pennies. You can have multiple sizes in one mold.

Beagle -- What twist does your Marlin have? What cast bullet loads have worked well for you in that gun? I've got a .25-35 Contender barrel that I've worked with a little bit (not enough) and I've had problems getting decent accuracy with it. Just curious to hear what has worked for you. Thanks!

Glen, I rebarrelled a 338 Marlin with a 1-10 twist Douglas Supreme and so far, it has shot everything from the 257420 Lyman through the 25-120-SP RCBS.

Earlier, I rebarrelled a M1894 Marlin .25-20 with a 1-12 Douglas and that allowed me to shoot the 90 grainers in it without keyholing.

Based on that experience and the fact that the factory M94 barrels had 1-8 twists for 117 grainers, I split the difference and I have been happy with it. Shoots best with a 25-100-FN HP RCBS and that's a great load for it./beagle

Thank you for the tip about the group buy. For some reason I never think to check there.

I have signed on for a mold.
