I just smelted down the last batch of ww I got. Had only 2 of the standard ww that did not melt @ 600 degrees, but had a bunch of the tape on type that didn't. All of the tape on type had only a numeral on the individual weight, and some had nothing. All of the lead (hopefully lead, I haven't melted these yet) ones had the weight in gms and 1/4 oz on them. There's a strong visual difference between them.

Anyone else noticed this?

Got a magnet handy? Were the clip-on weights ferrous or nonferrous?

I just got through unloading a drum I got today and was happily throwing the tape-ons into the pb bucket when I noticed some with zn stamped on them. I tried to twist them and they were HARD. went through the pure pb bucket and found a bunch more. DAMN!! Now I have to go through that bucket again. Not very many of the zincs were marked, but they stand out pretty good when I know what I'm looking at.
Some of the clip-ons were coated but felt fairly soft, while a lot of the coated ones were harder than they should be. What a PITA.

Put the zinc weights in a bucket and save them. When you get one of those cube shaped flat rate up 70 lbs postal boxes full, wrap the box with clear packing tape and send me an email and I will send the $8.10 it will cost to mail them to me.

I need to collect about 100 lbs worth after I get back from South Africa to cast some 6 PDR balls for my mortar.
